Class from Harry in the Guardian:

The 24-year-old is determined to maintain his upward path and has set himself the target of bettering Salah’s total.

“It’s good to have competition and it’s great for the Premier League to have two players at the 30-goal mark,” Kane said. “For me, it was a target to improve on last year, when I got 29, and it was nice to get to that 30-goal mark. Mo has done great this year, he deserves it, he deserves the Golden Boot. I am looking forward to the competition again next season.

“I haven’t seen Mo to talk with him. But this is what you want at the highest level – you want to be fighting for things and I think we pushed each other. He broke the record for a 38-game season and that is what I will try to do next season."
Just remembering he's only 24, and considering what he's achieved is incredible. He's had so much game time, pressure, and wear and tear on those young legs too in the past few seasons. It takes its toll.

The Janssen or Llorente type signings have failed miserably in terms of both link up if he plays, or rotation if he doesn't. He is, when fully fit, the best striker in the world imo. Fully fit being the key! Good to hear itk about possible signings like Martial. That's the level of player we need to give help.

The kind of game a prime Kane plays means he uses his physicality in so many ways, shielding the ball, physically backing off a defender, using his energy and pace to switch the ball to either left or right foot for a scoring opportunity. Most of all, it means movement as we build up in attack, and he's dragging a whole defence all over the issue, and creating spaces for himself and others. None of that's been happening in recent weeks, 'cause his body needs a rest.

He needs some high quality help up front that can both link up with him, and also sub or provide rotation to give him a rest when needed.

We need a moratorium on people who say "I love Harry, but...".

There's no buts. He's our best player in donkeys years, and certainly our best striker since Greaves.

People will not know what they have until they're watching the likes of Soldado miss from all angles again.

Saw a stat saying he hit the woodwork the most of any player this season.

I remember back in August he hit it 3 or 4 times.

Think he had a great season... obviously with 30 goals, 7 in CL and 4 in FA Cup - only thing that spoil it is, that he was rushed back too early and looked off the pace in our vital run-in ... think he did well against leicester

He's 24, english, scored 20+ PL goals for 4 season in a row... thats incredible... if he played for liverpool the media would cream themselves regularly... Salah has had a superb season, credit where credits due, but he's yet to prove it over 4 seasons

Are there really people who say this?

Regarding Harry's season, I don't think he's been as consistently brilliant over the whole season as he was last year, but that spell earlier in the season he was playing at level higher than he has done previously or since. He was unstoppable, and just a cut above in all facets of his play.

If he could replicate that level at the World Cup we'd have a sniff of going deeper in to the tournament.

Spot on that we take him for granted. He’s now expected to score pretty much every game he plays so when he doesn’t, it’s almost a disappointment.

On a separate note, has anyone got a clip of Harry Kane saying ‘Chris Smalling’ so someone can post a tweet where the line is ‘So Harry, who isn’t going to the World Cup’?

Absolutely delight for Harry. This will only help him develop as a leader and a player. Just hope the media don’t turn on him if (probably) England fail as the WC.

Only in this country would our only world class player and captain be met with mockery, imagine Portugal doing such things to Ronaldo? No wonder we haven't won anything in over 50 years

The lad deserves what he has achieved. Put his head down and got on with his game. It will be great to see Harry leading the team for club and country for years to come...

So proud of him. Can't believe the ridiculous excitement of him starting to hit the back of the net regularly for Spurs only started a few years ago. Feels like he's been around for a lifetime! Go on Harry!

This news has already provoked those scraping the bottom of the gene pool to make spelling and speech jokes.

Yep. These are the first 4 replies from SportBible: I’m actually surprised the ‘claim’ joke (sooo funny) was only the 4th reply. But then I scrolled down and saw about 20 more. And there were loads about not understanding the team talk etc etc.

Anyway, these are the kind of wankers we have to deal with nowadays, bar the third one obvs.

I find their weird obsession with us pretty funny now, probably stems from our superiority over them in the league for practically the last decade.
For the love of god i hope Real beat them in the final....their general saltiness will increase 10 fold i imagine.

the Liverpool Echo was tweeting that he might be England captain but doesn't have the chance to lift the UCL cup this weekend, go Jordan etc.

At the same time they've got Dejan 'subbed off after half an hour' Lovren saying he's confident of stopping Ronaldo. Alright pal.

First time ever I'll say this but, come on Real!
