I love him but seen Xabi Alonso heap praise on him today and say he wants him to go onto to being better than him.

I actually do not think he's anywhere near that standard nothing more than an exciting prospect

Finding this ankle injury a bit worrying. It looked incredibly bad at the time and he's obviously still struggling with it months after 'recovering'. Really hope it's not one that will dog him throughout his career and reduce what he can be. Reminds me ominously of Ledley's knee injury which he actually got on his Spurs debut.

agree 100% and wish people would understand that he has only been fully fit for a couple of months this season --- coinciding with some rather decent performances against that part time outfit from Spain!
We have to be very careful he does not end up with arthritis in his ankles, and sensibly give him the time to properly heal.

He is a perfectly runs peg in a perfectly runs hole.

There are not that many footballers just perfect for their position, but he is one. I don't actually think he needs to add much to his game either.

Runs hole sounds like something you get the morning after a dodgy kebab.

Hasn't played since mid december and his thread fell in page 5, i'm getting worried about this guy.

With the pretty bad history of our medical staff to predict injury absences (lamela, wanyama, toby...), and the lack of recent communication on his injury, I could see him sidelined for a few more weeks..

Please come back soon luv.

Crucial few months for him. Looked a shoe in for World Cup squad. But may well be difficult getting minutes now depending how Poch shuffles the pack. Missing out on World Cup would be devastating for him when it looked a real possibility.

He's been injured, why does there have to be something more to it?

Agree but why do our injuries seem to be soo prolonged lately?
Always appear as a minor problem and "It'll be a couple of weeks" only for it to end up being months.

I love winks, he’s never afraid to get the ball, no matter who he is playing against. He makes the right passes instead of the fancy passes but the more he played the more he looked like he was growing his creative side then he got hurt again. I don’t think the stupid groans will bother him one bit though, he’ll just continue to improve.

Ok shouldn’t judge him on tonight. But it made me think what exactly is he. I just don’t think he is creative enough or forceful enough to play a commanding CM role next to a DM. For me he is a ball playing DM like a carrick xabi alonso. I think that’s fine with a back 3 , but with a back 4 it leaves you a bit exposed. It’s a decent option for very one sided games where we don’t really need a Dier/wanyama.we will almost certainly buy a CM in summer not sure where that leaves winks.Probably understudy to the new guy.
