Wonderful contract news.
Some people forget how good he was in the autumn. Without injuries I am 100% certain he would be a regular starter for us and a definite starter for England this summer.
Man City completely shattered his confidence, imo. He needs to find that mojo, and get a good run of games where he is injury free, and running things from deep.

He went head 2 head with Real Madrid and looked the winner, one of many games where he was brilliant. But when he came back from injury he seemed a little weary and maybe now he get past it.

Need to have him back involved and becoming brains of our team.

Happy about this and looking forward to seeing him back in action and fully fit.

A nice little player that can either play alongside a more dedicated holder in Dier or Wanyama or even can sit back and hold himself (like in Real Madrid game).

Been a bit unlucky with injuries in last two seasons.

My only worry regarding Winks was his injury record, and a long contract like this will only have been given to him with the utmost confidence that they won't be a problem in the long-term. If that is the case, then we have a very good player who could be an exceptional player. This is fantastic news IMO.

All we need now us confirmation of pochs contract extension and it's winner winner all round, these players would not have signed if they thought poch was going.

Been my adopted son for a couple years now and I am thrilled to see him locked up. When healthy he adds a dimension we long for.

Pleased for him. Was starting to turn into a tidy little CM. Hopefully he'll regain his fitness post op and get back to being a very decent option to have in the squad.

Safe money is that Winks will not make the WC team. Still in Qatar rehabbing his ankle. I have a feeling he'll have surgery and use the summer to recover and get stronger.

To get this conversation out of the ITK thread:

Actually feel confident that this is best way forward. The folks at Aspetar are thorough so I imagine, in conjunction with our physios, they have created a intense rehab plan for Winks to follow post-op. Good news for Josh Onomah and Luke Amos, who will now have the opportunity to show Poch that they can play a part in the team and thrive in the CM position.

I'm sure the contract means good news regarding his fitness too. Doubt the club would have been so quick to offer a big deal with a pay rise had their been concerns over his ankle.
