Was very impressed with him tonight, certainly wouldn't look out of place starting in a Premier League game

Decent performance from a player who's been out for quite some time but I feel there is much more to come from him. His aggression when tracking back, willingness to take the ball regardless of where he is or who is around him and his willingness to try a quick and sometimes risky pass are so welcome.

Hope he gets plenty more minutes this season.

I think some of the praise for the guy is slightly over the top, but that's not to take away from the performance and the progress he's making

For a 21 year old he's incredibly comfortable on the ball, technically good and seems to be confident playing at the highest level. And the game last night was the first he's started after a long-term injury

So, like I said in a previous thread, he's progressing nicely

What he needs to start doing, hopefully in the next couple of seasons, is having games where he totally dominates and pulls the strings in the middle of the park. Where he dictates the tempo of the game by relentlessly recycling possession, like some of the other top CMs do, and also creates lots of attacking opportunities for the forward players. A few goals would be nice as well (y)

If he can do that, then we'll have a genuinely brilliant CM, who we can all rave about

Winks core talent is way ahead of Parker. I was a huge Scott Parker fan for years, way before we finally got him and squeezed a good couple of seasons out of him. But Winks thinks forward and his passing is quick and precise. I think there is plenty in the locker that we have yet to see. Those few bursts he had when he beat players were impressive.

Best midfielder ive seen us produce from the academy for a long time.

I said something similar in the match thread.

You can see that his core is stronger because he was holding off bigger guys 10 years older than him, and also has a nice burst of acceleration.

With his range of passing he will flourish over the coming months. If he was played more I wouldn't be surprised if he made the England squad next year as we have never replaced Carrick.

Totally agree till the last para. Of course we would rave about him if he dominates games, but lower your expectations, give praise where it's due and recognise that he will be just one player out of eleven on the field at any given time.

There are echoes of the anti Dembele squad here, he isn't this, isn't that, but he's been a monster for us since Poch came to town.

There was one point in the second half he was being chased and fouled by an opposition midfielder and he surprised me with his dribbling ability to get away from trouble (until he was finally brought down), I didn't know he had that in his locker.

It's going to be really interesting to see how far he can go because it's all there for him. He seems to have it mentally too, which as we all know is a massive part of succeeding in top level football.

Good game last night, most important thing is getting back to the player he was before he was injured which seems like he is.

Great confidence booster for him. A bit more match fitness and he'll start bossing the midfield in a few games. So pleased to have him back.

If he can do that before he's 23/24 then we'll be fending off £50/60m million bids for him. He'd basically be Modric, but even better at a younger age. I think that's asking a bit much.

I'm just pleased that we have another young player who like Eriksen is happy to receive the ball in tight areas, can pass the ball properly and plays with his head up, because we don't have that many in our squad.

Neither do England and if he can stay injury free and keeps progressing there is a gaping hole in the England team for him in the next 3 to 4 years imo.

He's an immense bonus when having the likes of Eriksen, Dembs Lamela from the midfield missing. He will be immense for us.

Very clear he is learning from Dembele on how to shield the ball, evade the opponents. He played with some authority yesterday.

With Chalobah out, am fully expecting a first England call up for him in the internationals.

Hopefully he has a better England career than Carrick!!
