Sorry I cannot agree with that, I thought he was good against West Ham and decent yesterday.
one of our main threats going forward
Still not totally convinced that he is a £20M+ player, but time will only tell and probably a bit more patience is required.
Benteke +30m, Berahino +20m, Martial +30m, Depay +20m, that's just the going rate for any decent forwards.
Agree that just on talent he wouldn't be worth £20M+ but we'll make that back just from fans in Korea.
One thing I do like about him (aside from his energy levels) is that he's got a great knack of being in the right place at the right time. I just don't have any confidence yet that he'll develop that killer instinct he desperately needs in front of goal.
Start him against west brom. If we can get an early lead we can then sub him for lamela to hassle the shit out of them.
Couldn't disagree less - young, genuinely two footed, pacey, hard worker, intelligent. If that's not a 20m player I don't know what is.
His attitude is worth 10mill alone.
showing a lot of promise and will come good over time but wish he'd cut down some of the unnecessary flicks and trying skills to turn on the halfway line
Guess I'm still stuck in values outside the premiership where £20m gets you a game changer like David Silva, Negredo, Schurle or Douglas Costa going to Bayern rather than the premiership values of Luke Shaw for £30m or £25 for Adam Lallana.
Guess it's all relative...
Eriksen cost us £11m
Dier cost us £4m
Alli cost us £5m
Admittedly I had never heard of Son before we signed him. I do like him as a squad player but I wouldn't say that his pre-Spurs record would justify a £22m price tag
But compare their wages to what Son is earning here. Big difference between 20m and ~50k wages and 20m and 150k.
I like him. I don't think he'll ever be truly top class but he's got a bit of a Robbie Keane about him.
You don't like him? What's not to like?
Probably? He's played, what...? 7 times for us?
As you were...
Surely that would be agreeing...
It's Monday folks
Stunned at the negative and even reserved comments in here. No, he's not ringin' in the goals, but the impact he's already provided to our attack is bloody massive. He is the equivalent of a cocaine bolus injected directly into the carotid arteries of our once overly timid and static attack. Contributions of attackers are not entirely summed up in goals and assists, in fact one could even argue that the disruption to opposition lines they induce are yet even more important for the team as a whole.
Our attack is like night and day from the timid bitchassness we called an "attack" the last two years, and a significant reason for that has been the signing of Son. Even before he provides the goals, he has been an excellent, and much-needed prudent signing.
I appreciate that this is the player discussion thread but perhaps we shouldn't judge his entire career on his first 3 games back after nearly 2 months out. Remember the treatment Walker got after 5 months out. Playing ok now right ?
Regarding his transfer fee, we almost certainly paid a premium based on his marketability but as many have said that is probably going to come back to use in internet hits, TV audience, merchandise etc.
