Stunned at the negative and even reserved comments in here. No, he's not ringin' in the goals, but the impact he's already provided to our attack is bloody massive. He is the equivalent of a cocaine bolus injected directly into the carotid arteries of our once overly timid and static attack. Contributions of attackers are not entirely summed up in goals and assists, in fact one could even argue that the disruption to opposition lines they induce are yet even more important for the team as a whole.

Our attack is like night and day from the timid bitchassness we called an "attack" the last two years, and a significant reason for that has been the signing of Son. Even before he provides the goals, he has been an excellent, and much-needed prudent signing.

I appreciate that this is the player discussion thread but perhaps we shouldn't judge his entire career on his first 3 games back after nearly 2 months out. Remember the treatment Walker got after 5 months out. Playing ok now right ?

Regarding his transfer fee, we almost certainly paid a premium based on his marketability but as many have said that is probably going to come back to use in internet hits, TV audience, merchandise etc.

showing a lot of promise and will come good over time but wish he'd cut down some of the unnecessary flicks and trying skills to turn on the halfway line

I have full confidence Poch will get him to control this. Feels great to be able to say that with confidence. :)

Some of the people on here being negative about Son after something like 7 games is ridiculous. Lol. Luckily, he won't need a season to bed in - I saw enough of him to know this guy's going to be quality, the goals will start coming again shortly. Going to be an inspired signing, I have no doubt.

Agree that just on talent he wouldn't be worth £20M+ but we'll make that back just from fans in Korea.

One thing I do like about him (aside from his energy levels) is that he's got a great knack of being in the right place at the right time. I just don't have any confidence yet that he'll develop that killer instinct he desperately needs in front of goal.

Are you for real?

You do realise he averaged over a goal every three games from WF the last three seasons in the Bundesliga?

That's since he was 19 years old...?! Over ten goals a season from 33ish games.... ?!

Somebody shoot me :dead:

I like his flicks and interplay, but still think he has a bit to do to adjust to the movement and pace of the league. Has been largely disappointing since returning from injury, but will be given plenty of time and rightly so.

Thought he was very good against Quarabag personally...

Not the worst thing in the world because if he gets a Bronze or better he is automatically exempt from military service. Worth him going and trying to do well for the possible benefit.
