I liked what I saw in him when he was at BL and I'm impressed with his stats since he's been with us but I think that he would have an even better scoring record if he improves his composure when attempting shots at the opponent's goal.

I have faith that Poch will help in Son's improvement on that aspect in the coming seasons.

Just searched google to see how long his contract is....3 years left fyi

However, the lovely hindsight part is this line "It is not clear whether Son's decision to move to White Hart Lane ends Tottenham's pursuit of West Brom striker Saido Berahino, for whom they have had two bids of £18m and £22m rejected."

Safe to say it worked out well for us in the end

When we first got him I was stupidly excited as we were getting a winger who was two footed and had an outstanding goals-scoring record in Germany.

His start for us was very good, I remember him doing very well as part of our pressing but then he got injured and just couldn't get back to the level.

Never wanted to sell him though as just felt there was a top top player in there and happily this season he's shown to be a great member of our first team squad, giving us options either as cover for Kane or playing wide left in either a 4-2-3-1 or rather nicely in a 3-4-2-1 like last night.

Looking forward to Lamela coming back too as feel he'll do good job in 3-4-2-1 as one of the attacking two as reckon this will suit him more not making him push so wide - and it's a squad game so plenty of time for all of them to get a sniff (plus need options from bench as pointed out).

I really wanted him to be one of the cabbages during "that" summer, then he was, and after a season I really wanted to cash in on him. Still he can be both night and day within a week, or even within a game. But there is no doubt how fortunate it is that he still is with the club.

What was 'that' summer??

I watch the Bundesliga highlights show and Son was one of a couple of players who really excited me. So when Spurs signed him i was delighted. He then didn't deliver, looked lightweight etc and i began to doubt him.
I am sure we all did because it looked like he found the PL too tough. Delighted for him now, so fast, so positive and we have got used to his crazy inconsistency within matches, where he mucks up an easy chance and then scores a tricky one.
So always liked him and think he's great but i wouldn't pretend i never doubted him.

Certainly given 'world class' is bandied around when talking about Mane.

Not sure what the Alli comparison is saying, very glad to have both in our team. Alli's movement is as good for the team as his goals and is why someone like Son can shine now - and vice versa.

He's clearly gifted.. Lethal on either foot, clever in his run.. We clearly know he doesn't perform well constantly in every match, yet he is on 21 goals this season, scoring couples of worldies with it.. Given Poch coaching abilities, it can be a very scary thought just how much more improvement he can be in what is already a great season..

He's just amazing... Love him all the more when off he field he's such a cheery lad.

In Korea he's as big as Messi/Ronaldo and our fanbase has grown massively in that region because of him and the great football we play.

People have some fantasy that Lamela would walk back in the team and Son would be left out. I'm a big fan of Erik but Son has been one of our best players and should always be starting in my opinion.

I think he's the most underrated player in the league.

OK. What's the point in comparing two players that regularly start for us?

I posted it for two reasons really, one because I was genuinely surprised to see that Son is actually more productive in all areas, and I'm sure many would be, and two, merely as an example of perception. The media are absolutely mental for Alli at the moment, claiming he's the next coming, and to some extent justifiably, he kind of is, he's had an outstanding season, particularly for his age, but Son barely gets a byline in the national media, at best he's an afterthought, yet here is out producing Alli (and Mane - another who's got plenty of accolades in the local media).

For balance I would point out that despite being younger, as well as having a similar creative output, Alli also sees more ball than Son in games by about 40%, which to me is important.

I don't necessarily agree he should always be starting, especially in the 3421, but I don't think he should be the one that is automatically benched either.
