Haven't read previous few pages but Son's value may well be adversely affected by the military service factor but it is hugely boosted by being the best Asian player on the planet. The amount of interest in Spurs it must create is huge. Last time I saw us at Wembley there were hundreds of Korean fans

If Son was an Everton player and had managed those returns, you'd be frothing at the mouth at the thought of us signing him. The grass is always greener for some people though.

Point me to the part where I said I didn't rate Son, or that I wouldnt be thrilled to sign him if he played elsewhere.

All I said was he wasn't worth 80m, and that Zaha and Martial would be worth more, neither of which would be controversial comments on anywhere else than a Spurs forum.

You say the grass is always greener, I'd say fans generally have the blinkers on for their own players. You see it at all clubs, we're no different.

For example, how much would we value Lingaard at? And then how much Dele Alli? For the neutrals these guys would appear largely similar in terms of style and quality, and their value would only really differ on account of their age. But for many of us Lingaard is an inconsistent social-media loving millennial for whom we'd scoff at a valuation of more than £50m, whereas Dele is the second coming of Gazza with huge potential who we value at three times that amount.

I love Son. I never said otherwise. But it's not anti-Spurs to be realistic about his shortcomings, or to proclaim that there are other players in the league better than he.

I keep hearing about this amazing potential of Martial but I’ve never seen anything to suggest he’s going to be world class.

Son is an excellent player and when he’s on, he’s capable of producing moments that any player in world football would be proud of. The trouble is, when he’s off-form he can be actively detrimental (losing the ball, slowing down play etc.).

Why is Son not playing? Is he carrying an injury or are they trying to get through qualifying using their squad and holding players back for the knockout stages? So South Korea have better forwards than Son?

2-0 to Malaysia. Bloody hell.

Korea probably face Iran in the knockout round, not easy

Malaysia were 30/1 to win before KO on betfair. Think that’s the biggest price Ive ever seen a football team ?

Love Son but no way is he worth 80m+, even in this market. Those are the sorts of figures bandied around for the Martials, the Zahas, who in my opinion are a step up in quality. For me Son is more in the 45-60m bracket, max. Gets tons of goals but needs to up his consistency to be considered in that upper bracket of wingers.
The upper bracket of wingers (Neymar, Mbappe, Hazard, Salah etc) is worth a lot more than £80m these days. Son isn't in the upper bracket, but he's easily worth £80m+ in the current market.

Never worth £80m. If he was and someone offered that I'f guarantee Levy would be jumping up and down extremely excitedly uncontrollably wetting himself.

I'd say £40-45m tops

Imagine sticking a tenner on that...
Mental price for an U-23 game where no-one really knows what the standard of player is, even in a South Korean squad.
