You must be a youngster because every one knows (or should) and agrees that "Jennings is better than Yashin, Greaves is better than Eusebio" etc etc.

Only if you let your club loyalties get in the way! I'm not knocking Big Pat at all, he was brilliant, but...
I tend to agree with Greaves though.

Yashin was a little bit before even my time, but when I talk about perfect goalkeepers, I'm talking about one who doesn't make any mistakes. If you can tell me, hand on heart, that Yashin was never directly responsible for letting a goal in, I'll accept what you say.

.

Nobody in any walk of life has ever made no mistakes. So, yeah, if that's your criteria then you're right.

How can a professional keeper's kicking be so poor?

Seems far too reluctant to just smash it away when under pressure IMO.

Lloris has been excellent lately his kicking last night and against Chelsea has really improved, anyone else noticed it?

I find the narrative from commentators and fans that when he has a good game, the "Well, he's had a good game despite a poor/inconsistent season from Hugo" sentiment, so fucking lazy. It seems to be a default response to him when he plays well these days.

But the thing is, we're hearing it about every single game. For the most part, he's been outstanding this season despite the off the pitch scandal. It's a testament to his mental strength that he's been able to deal with that and not let it affect his form.

Or maybe I'm just going mad, but I genuinely feel that he's been excellent so far this season.

Some of these narratives about players just get started off nothing and people buy into them. Its like Eriksen does nothing on defense currently, just stupid. The amount of people who were calling for him to be dropped completely was ridiculous.

Bar one play, his kicking was pretty decent all game long. you're sounding a bit agenda driven IMO.

My only agenda is not wanting Tottenham to take silly risks when under pressure, might have only done it once badly last night, but his kicking has always been a relatively poor part of his game, especially from the deck.

Lloris has definitely been looking to kick long when under pressure more often this season. Surprised it hasn't been noted by more people.

Fuck about!!

What keepers are you watching for Lloris' kicking to be counted as poor?!? I'd personally only put him behind Ederson, Pickford and De Gea on distribution...

His shot stopping has been world class this season, and despite how much people like to moan about it, his distribution this season has been on point. And it looks like his early sweeping decision making problem has been overcomed. He deserves great credit for bouncing back and we're lucky to have him.

those are fans from rival clubs trying to sabotage the club

It was really highlighted last night just how important goalkeeping football ability is to our play. We do play out from the back and its mixed up with long balls played upto Kane.

Gazza is by far and away superior to Lloris in this department who is quite frankly shit and brings so many nervous moments to our back 4.

So there begs the question; when should we be looking to bring in a new number one.

IMO it should be a pressing issue for our club, not neccessarily a number one straight away but certainly a keeper that has the potential to oust Lloris and who is adept at playing with his feet.

All good things come to an end. I hope the club is on the ball with this

I agree that Gazza's long kicking is superb, and a lot better than Hugos. His short passing, ball control and awareness with the ball at his feet is shit though, and it was pure luck we didn't concede from it yesterday. Hugo would never have made those errors.

It was Gazzas precise long kicks that started both of our goals, and we should really do it more than nervously pass around our own back 4 with an opposition striker trying to press.

Are you sure?

Im not saying Gazzas passing is faultless, but its darn more accurate than Lloris's.

Lloris consistantly puts our back 4 under pressure. Im not sure how that can be questionned.

For the record Im not saying I want Lloris sold. I'm not saying I want a new keeper in January.

Im merely pointing out the benefits of having a keeper that is adept with ball at feet and as a club we should be looking at this as we establish ourselves as one of europes elite.

Overall Im happy with Lloris and he's played himself into some good form after his stupidity earlier on in the summer.

But there does remain question marks with his performances in our big games and he's not good with the ball at his feet despite what others may say. IMO.
