Anyone with any sense knows he's a top keeper.
And all keepers make mistakes.
The 2nd goal, yes he should have saved it but these things happen.
I don't have a problem with that. He is one of the best shot stoppers around, thats not up for debate.
However his distribution and kicking are not beyond criticism and seem to actually be getting worse rather than better imo.
To be fair up until that throw out yesterday I thought he had been a bit better. Mixed up kicking up field (it stayed on the pitch) with throwing it out. Didn't throw it out to anyone when they were boxed in and clearly didnt want it apart from the 2nd goal and to be fair Wanyama had a fkin horror show yesterday and should have been taken off after 20min. Players NEVER EVER EVER get better as game goes on when they're having a shocker and Wanyama had one.
I think whats most frustrating about Lloris is he's fantastic, world class, at the hardest part of his game. It's the simple part he seems to struggle with and it doesn't look like its being addressed in his coaching because its not getting better.
Still, I'll take his flaws with his pluses any day.

Lloris is a top keeper and we won't be able to get anyone of his level. We have to get over the occasional error.
ABOVE ALL ------ Beware a repeat of the folly of transferring Pat Jennings ......

2:10 Awful mistake by Gomes here, I'm sure you'll agree

Another howler from Gomes, no wonder we let him go

Shocking, maybe Hugo should take some tips from Neuer or De Gea, I'm sure he'll learn a thing or two :sneaky:

mate Gomes was imo mostly bloody awful and made terrible mistakes I am afraid I felt Lloris yesterday was poor for both the goals but especially the second which for me it was a Gomes like howler from beginning to end panicked in possession and beaten poorly on his near post + the gap he left for the free kick looked huge it made look a simple free kick from where I was sitting.

A Gomes like howler kind of means a mistake like Gomes used to make

Hugo is one of the best goalkeepers around. We are lucky to have him. Should have saved the second from alonso though.....but that happens sometimes.

I know what it means...I'm highlight the fact that all keepers make mistakes, I guess everyone has a Gomes in them in that case :)

a) Probably as good a goalkeeper as we could hope to have right now
b) Good captain, speaks well, represents the club with dignity, a nice person
c) Overrated

Top keepers are the ones that make the least mistakes as well as some top class saves

Hugo made a pretty bad one yesterday which was magnified by the fact it was in the last few minutes and cost us a very well earned point etc

He makes very few mistakes. Long may that continue...

From memory he's been beaten once or twice like that in a similar fashion. Maybe because you very rarely see him making saves with his legs so when it's very close to his body like yesterday he can struggle to dig it out

Still miles ahead of Gomes & Robbo etc

Everybody blaming Hugo, and ok, maybe he should have saved it but the REAL mistake was by Wanyama. He dallied on the ball and allowed himself to be dispossessed.

Wanyama got caught on the ball and didn't track alonso's run (blame it on tiredness after just coming back from injury.)
Dembele didn't close Alonso quick enough in the box (Injured from the breakdown before hugo threw it out)
LLoris caught between going with hands or feet did neither (one mistake big deal)

Move on people, it hurts losing to the chav's but we won't lose often this year and we will be up there COYS.

another stat from squawka .. :censored:

Hugo Lloris has made 6 defensive errors in the Premier League since the start of last season; only Lukasz Fabianski (7) has made more.

What constitutes a defensive error for a goalkeeper in Squawka land?

an error that directly led to a goal or could easily have resulted in one - hugo does like kicking the ball straight to an unmarked opposing player from time-to-time.
My question is the same, but I have a feeling that it is an error that leads directly to a goal. Do they give examples, and does letting a shot go under your body constitute one?

Nope - then it would say error leading to goal. A defensive error is just that, a defensive error.
