Because lots of people don't have faith in us being either truthful with injury news in public or actually giving any at all.

I understand that, as I feel the same in for whatever reason in the past we've mentioned return dates for players in the media and they never seem to be back at the stated time. Still, it's like they can't win, they say a return date and there's a setback that they can't possibly anticipate and people get annoyed, or they say nothing and people get annoyed at not being informed of anything. I know more often than not when return dates are set for players they're usually met but we don't know the circumstances behind a players injury, rehab etc.

I am very hopeful it's not bad, but i'm not gonna start packing when I know nothing that can suggest as much yet.

I think its just that when Jan hurts his ankles its usually him missing a few weeks if history is anything to go by.

Lets just hope its a precaution like you say and we find out more in the next press conference.

I don’t know hence the question

Wasn't that a previous season when Wimmer came in and played really well then immediately got dropped. I think we conceded one goal in a seven game spell or something.
Wimmer stepped in and performed acceptably winter of 2016. Winter of 2017, Vertonghen missed 5 matches. For this spell out, Wimmer was hardly utilised. Winter of 2018: TBA. Maybe his body just is fragile when cold.

Poch: "Jan yesterday had a positive scan. We are positive, we are happy because he feels much better. For tomorrow, sure not, but maybe for the weekend yes. With Toby, we need to assess him day by day, but he’s different to Jan."

Sue me for thinking an ITK saying Jan may have done his ankle ligaments meant that Jan might have done his ankle ligaments

For the 2nd time he didn't say that, you're reading what you want to read, so let me ask again, where did the original rumour come from?

I don’t think it’s unreasonable as a fan to be concerned when our best defender who has a history of ankle ligament injuries can’t play because he’s injured his ankle.

Thankfully it seems a case of bad bruising etc rather than anything else.

Earlier in this thread, someone said there was a rumour going round at Palace that Jan had done his ankle ligaments, to which Hercules replied "He possibly has".

So I thought, Hercules being In The Know and all, that he may know something about the incident and was saying the early fear was it was similar to the other times Jan had turned his ankle and done his ligaments.

You seem to be suggesting I've inferred some outlandish conclusion from an ITK saying a player had 'possibly' done his ligaments. But what I was inferring was that he might have done his ligaments.

You read it in the wrong way. Herc was clearly saying nothing more than it’s possible as he has a history of ankle injuries. Was nothing to do with anything he’d heard on this specific injury.

Great news re Jan. Last thing we need is for our best defender to be injured for a lengthy amount of time. Rest will do him some good too.

Don't need him this weekend anyway, if we can't beat Hudd without him then we're a bit shit...if in doubt save him for Juve...
