Superb footballer, he doesn't put a foot wrong..... ever.

Even better is the way that as Jan saunters over to the corner to join in the celebrations, hands still on his head, Sanchez jumps on his back and clearly jibes him about it.

Love this bloke fucking best Defender at the club - after their goal he basically won every dual with Salah - very unlucky not to score too - Goes about his business quietly, efficiently and makes very very few, if any poor decisions - absolutely top drawer defender.

Haha I noticed this as well. He's only been here a few months yet he already seems like a popular member of the squad and know all the 'in jokes.'

I noticed too that Sanchez and Aurier walked off the pitch arm in arm after the game. I bet they were saying to each other 'how fucking good is this! I'm glad we came.'

I'd love to know what language they were speaking.

I felt his pain. He clearly wanted to score so bad and it was cleared off the line. Poor guy can't buy a goal.

He's been itching for one since the back end of last season, his forays and runs toward the opposition area when he kind of just slaloms forward with the ball have increased somewhat a bit more like when he first joined. He scored a few in his first season, I reckon he's maybe been taking a little stick off the guys as it's been a long time now.

This is no slight on Toby who was player of season 15/16, but Jan was even better than him last year and has started the same this year. He's at the very apex of his craft.

As for his reactions, his general demeanour makes me laugh on quite a regular basis. He can be a little sly at times and draw players into altercations that they usually come out the other end of with a card or a foul against them. Sometimes, he looks at other players and officials with this face of absolute derision that makes me giggle.

His generally measured way of holding himself exudes a laid back calmness, almost haughty intelligence and slight arrogance. I dunno, I regularly find myself chuckling at certain small mannerisms he does on the pitch.

in the first half Salah kept getting the better of Aurier. In the second half it looked like Jan was tasked to keep an eye on Salah and by great positional play, as against the sheer pace of Aurier, he was always one step ahead so snubbing out the most dangerous player on their side
