I want him to score so badly, would love if it's at OT this weekend.

IIRC that's where he scored one of his first goals for us.

He's been itching for one since the back end of last season, his forays and runs toward the opposition area when he kind of just slaloms forward with the ball have increased somewhat a bit more like when he first joined. He scored a few in his first season, I reckon he's maybe been taking a little stick off the guys as it's been a long time now.

This is no slight on Toby who was player of season 15/16, but Jan was even better than him last year and has started the same this year. He's at the very apex of his craft.

As for his reactions, his general demeanour makes me laugh on quite a regular basis. He can be a little sly at times and draw players into altercations that they usually come out the other end of with a card or a foul against them. Sometimes, he looks at other players and officials with this face of absolute derision that makes me giggle.

His generally measured way of holding himself exudes a laid back calmness, almost haughty intelligence and slight arrogance. I dunno, I regularly find myself chuckling at certain small mannerisms he does on the pitch.

The video of him and Sissoko after the Madrid game was what Jan down to a T:

Sissoko: "Hey Jan, good result eh?"
Jan: " Hmm, not bad, not bad"

He just kind of ploughed through their defence to score that from what I remember. He's got such determination when he's on the ball, I wish he'd do that more often now.

in the first half Salah kept getting the better of Aurier. In the second half it looked like Jan was tasked to keep an eye on Salah and by great positional play, as against the sheer pace of Aurier, he was always one step ahead so snubbing out the most dangerous player on their side

The way i saw the game mate after Salah got his goal any joy he got was not out of Verts - any time those two came together Jan came out on top every single time - i cannot think of any of incident outside of his goal he got the better of Verts.

Remember Vertonghen played LB for us in the early days, so he had licence to attack.
{Plays LB for his country and got a goal just the other week.)

When we are 3 at the back, one of them has licence to go forward at times.
Vertonghen always looks the most dangerous.

Doesn't play left back anymore for Belgium. They've moved to a back three and he slots in with Toby and another.

I believe Jan’s strike today was the first Wembley goal by a Spurs number 5 since...

Very strong feeling he will be on coaching staff when stops playing. Whenever soccer AM do those stupid questions and ask who will be a manager everyone says vertonghen.

I love me a bit of Super Jan, he has been absolutely desperate for that goal for quite some time, buzzing to see him get it.

Funny thing is hes superb at jinking runs and generally with the ball at his feet but just has rotten luck there is always those pesky goalposts in his way.

I remember him having a few difficult years under AVB, but ever since Poch arrived, he has been steadily improving to the point where he is now arguably one of the best CBs in Europe. He's so aggressive and progressive from the backline, which suits our high-line, high-pressing system perfectly. His positional sense, awareness and decision making enables him to break in front of the opposition attacker, often intercepting the ball before either passing or pushing on himself. He did this countless times yesterday.

On the ball, he at least equals some of the best ball-playing centre-backs in Europe. Skilful, composed, with a burst of acceleration - he is vital to the way we play. Couple that with a very good passing range and he is proving to be the perfect all-round defender.

Alderweireld may get all the plaudits, but Super Jan has been just as good.

He's been exceptional this season. If we're talking Spurs players of the season, I guess Harry is leading the pack, Eriksen not far behind, but Jan is in the conversation.

How good is he, only thing I would change about him is his age because I want him in our defence forever.
