Absolutely brilliant experience for the lad and hopefully it will bring him on a lot.

It also seems very clear that he wanted the move because Pochettino, idiotically, refused to play him in Cm in cup games, at all in league games, even when 3/4-0 up with 30 minutes to go, or in pre-season friendlies.

Of course he's got learning to do, and that includes from people like Dembele, but there are things he does better than Dembele now, and I just wish Pochettino had used his noggin and given him more development minutes over the last couple of years than what he got and I think he'd be ready now to start playing more games in midfield, which could have made us a better team and saved us millions.

The same idiotic Pochettino who criticised KWP in the press simulateneously weakening our bargaining position with unnamed clubs in negotiations concerning unnamed right backs and destroying KWP’s confidence? That same idiot right? Maybe, just maybe he has a better idea than you on how to develop young players, how to manage them and when/where to play them.

Some positive (and funny) comments on a Villa Forum about him after watching him play in their matches so far:

"Looks a player. Great balance and seems to have that yard of pace to get away from players. Could be big for us."

"Thought very tight for MOTM between him and OHare. Excellent debut, looked very comfortable with the ball in tight situations and good accurate forward looking passing as well."

"A CM who actually wants the Ball? One who collects it facing his own goal and has the ability to turn move forward and pass forward with the ball? What is this sorcery?"

"Reminds me of Bacuna except he looks as though he can carry the ball, drift past people, can pass forwards and backwards, can take people out of the game carrying the ball and passing the ball. Actually he doesn't remind of Bacuna."

"Excellent tonight. So powerful with the ball and carries it forward superbly, I'd really like to see him starting as much as possible. Offers something different from the rest of our midfield."

"Excellent player, very classy and composed, brings calm and confidence when he is in possession, every act of possession is positive. He is going to be a very special player. Worth £25m already."

And so on and so forth....

Sounds as if they are talking about a young Dembele.

Sounds as if they are talking about a young Dembele.

His name came up in the thread. They were baffled why Bruce took him off in the match played on Saturday and everyone on the thread seemed to believe that Onomah was the best player on the pitch and someone shared this video (sorry, I don't know how to embed a video from Twitter):

Other comments from the Saturday match....

"MOTM For me and gets taken off?.. Can only assume Empty head Bruce was thinking about the mighty Reading in mid-week

"Perhaps Bruce thought he was being all uppity by knowing how to play football on the ground. Lad needs some humility"

"Utterly baffling that he came off. Best player on the pitch for us"

"He's an excellent player, the only one today who looked like he knew how to play football. I really hope we don't completely ruin him by the time the loan is finished."

"He is so lucky he hasn't signed full time. what a classy player. Such a shame he is surrounded by pussies"

"Fantastic that after 3 games of the season and £70mil spent on a championship team, my two favourite players are an academy player I'd never heard of until pre season and a youngster from Spurs"

He was also voted (by a massive margin) the Villa MOTM against Cardiff.

You watch us plod around on Sunday, and you realise what Onomah could bring to that midfield. He'd see as much ball as Dier, but he can pass it, play incisive passes and move past players with the ball.

Hope he does well on his loan, but I am still very pissed that we didn't keep him here and have the courage to play him in midfield with someone like Wanyama next to him. He's exactly what we need in that part of the pitch. I know he's still got learning to do, but who of our team hasn't or is foot perfect ?[/QUOT

Had Eric Dier fucked your Wife or smashed your bus up BC? Seems every thread I pop into you shoe horn him into it & not in a nice way :cautious:

Sorry what would those be? And where did he display those, against 18 year olds presumably?

He has never showed anything in his first team game time at Spurs to suggest he should be a starter. The loan is the best option and well overdue

He can move past people with the ball but he generally doesn't do that if there is a better passing option. He also plays more incisive passes and he sees the pass option quicker than Dembele does, generally.

I find comments like this a bit strange and illogical. He's continually shown these qualities for years, throughout his development. Why would he suddenly stop showing these qualities because he's playing someone older? Do players ever just stop showing their natural qualities ? Read some of the Villa fans comments, and they have no vested interest in Onomah.

As for him never showing anything in his first team game time, this is just ignorant and shows an inability to rationalise events and evidence. He's yet to have one game, in a proper first team side, in his natural position. And even if he'd had one game or three or even 6, that still wouldn't be a rational time to draw a complete conclusion, just as it isn't when we sign players, who often take most of a season to start showing their best form etc.

Yeah, the one that paid 50m for Njie, Nkoudou and Sissoko and fucked off Pritchard, Oduwa and didn't play Onomah, KWP or Edwards when he could have, That's the one.

I like him as a CB though and think he could be an Alderwireld one day with real leadership credentials, just don't really like my CM's in the Phil Jones mould.

He's playing really far up the pitch and is utterly peripheral to the game. Villa just lumping it forward at every opportunity.

Villa are bad by the looks of things, scored 1 conceded 6 so far this season.

Seems like Bruce reluctant to play Onomah deeper.
