Ben Pearce for ESPN has confirmed that Josh Onomah is being kept on at Spurs.
“Josh is part of our plans. He’s injured and doing his recovery with Harry Winks. That’s why he’s not here.”
Oh were that entirely true.
Josh Onomah is part of Tottenham’s plans alright – solely because the the club are completely lacking in confidence that they will manage to secure any decent additions in this window.
I do hope all the die hard Dumb Dumbs are looking forward to having that bravery explained to you in slow motion over the forthcoming season.
The bravery was player retention.
Showing you Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen & Co., all smiling away in their new little ‘elite shirts’ is the where your expectations ought to be.
Onomah was throughly nondescript at Villa.
He received a warm welcome and then he just sort of fizzled out.
Their fans won’t miss him.
This is the truth – but of course, thick fans will rail against this – with some mumbo jumbo about ‘yeah but that was just because the Villa fans wanted one their own players to start instead.’
Bottom line with Onomah is that he’s not good enough to make a Premier League starting bench and will be hung onto as he’s English, and his departure wouldn’t solve anything anyway.
Who would buy him, and for just how little?

As a card-carrying journalist, I can assure you that no reporter would write illiterate stuff about "Dumb Dumbs" and "thick fans" for a mainstream sports website such as ESPN.

So there's either a copy and paste error here or something more nefarious.

Anyway, here's what Ben Pearce actually wrote at ESPN:

Tottenham's Vincent Janssen for sale, but Josh Onomah part of plans - Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Vincent Janssen has been omitted from Tottenham's International Champions Cup squad because he is surplus to requirements, but says Josh Onomah remains part of his plans.
Janssen and Onomah both spent last season out on loan, with Fenerbahce and Aston Villa respectively, and neither player was included in the group that has traveled to the U.S. for Spurs' preseason tour.
But Pochettino says that Onomah's absence is due to a knee injury.
"It's different personal situations for different players," he said. "It's clear the situation for players like Vincent. But Josh is part of our plans. He's injured and doing his recovery with Harry Winks. That's why he's not here."

Onomah's injury means he will miss the chance to impress during Tottenham's ICC matches against Roma, Barcelona and AC Milan, with senior central midfielders Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier and Winks all missing.
Dembele and Dier are on holiday after reaching the World Cup semifinals with Belgium and England, while Winks is facing a race to be fit for the start of the season as he continues his rehabilitation from an ankle problem.
"He [Winks] is doing well after his injury," said Pochettino. "We're waiting for the evolution and we hope he can join the group as soon as possible. At the moment he's out of the group. We need to assess him every day."
Centre-back Juan Foyth also misses out on the tour with a knee injury after initially being named in Tottenham's 25-man ICC squad.

Doesn't make much sense seeing as he is injured too. Sorta confirms we expect Winks and Wanyama to be absent for quite some time. Hopefully he'll be ready to get some minutes vs Girona if it's not serious.

Can you please cut and paste the contents of that tweet in here. Sorry for the hassle, but I can't access twatter from my laptop.

Ta muchly.
Tottenham youngster Josh Onomah is a wanted man but boss Mauricio Pochettino is reluctant to let him out on loan again due to the club's huge injury woes.

Premier League Burnley and Fulham like box-to-box midfielder Onomah,21, who scored four goals in 33 Championship games on loan at Championship Aston Villa last term.

While Villa are also keen to bring Onomah back after his promising loan spell last term.

But Spurs boss Pochettino is still yet to sign anyone this summer.

He has big injury concerns in midfield where Victor Wanyama has a knee injury, Harry Winks has an ankle problem and Moussa Sissoko a hamstring injury.

Erik Lamela is still not fully fit after a serious hip injury from last term.
It is a nightmare for Pochettino with World Cup semi-finalists Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele not scheduled to return to training until August 6 – five days before Spurs' opening game at Newcastle.

IF he is 100% fit think he will have a big year.
Any youth ITK on his fitness situation?

He says in the article that he’s been injured for “a minute” meaning he’s been injured for a while.
Hercules said that he played with a injury for Villa and that they handled his injury badly and I believe him

right! I remember that now.
Actually feel quite bad for Josh, Winks and Wanyama (not to mention Lamella).
Josh gets a big loan and injured for much of it and the treatment effectively keeps him out of the US tour and start of the season.
Winks is looking like a club and country starter against Madrid, injuries keep him out of the season and the WC.
Victor had a massive year the season before last (remember his domination of midfield against Citeh at the Lane). Hasn't been fit and sharp in a year.
Lamella of course has come back from his big injury but has a muscle issue now.

Looks like he’s filled out a lot in latest training shots. Still only 21. Physically he has potential to be an absolute beast. It all feels so close with him in every aspect. With just dembele and winks currently as obvious CM. I’d feel a lot less exposed if he stays.

Onomah needs to stay. I'd much rather the club take a risk with him in some of our starting elevens than see Sissoko always used as a backup plan

It might be because I've never seen him in his best position but I've seen him live and many videos and just don't see anything to get excited about.

There are definitely flashes and moments to get excited about. But he has to up his energy levels imo and do it over the whole course of a game as opposed to 10 minute cameos.
