i dont even think you read my post, we say a lot of the same things here.
Sorry I was just responding to the idea that the loans were unsuccessful, not the overall post. The rest was a general comment not specific to you!

Anyway I think Onomah is a great talent. I would love to see him make it at Spurs. I actually feel he has more to his game than Winks but we have to see want happens. I've been wrong and right about players in the past, I honestly see a beast of player once he believes it.

Don't see any other choice but to keep him around the club now. We need all the options we can possibly get.

It’s the opportunity that players in his position need. If he can get fit in the next few weeks and push the first team he could make his breakthrough.

Big chance for him, up to him to show he can take it

Has Onomah ever played in his preferred position for us - I remember him getting game time on the right where he didn’t look great but don’t think he has ever played in the centre - so a bit harsh to be writing him off on that basis?

Not followed his loans but he was playing in some poor sides

As always the answer probably lies in the middle between those slating him for being awful and those saying he is the next big thing - at the moment would be silly not to recall him from a loan doing nothing for his development and see how he does for the next few months

If he doesn’t get some game time now with such a depleted squad and cant deliver some performances then we probably know he won’t make it

The only game I'm aware of where he played in one of his two favourite positions basically centrally and got 90mins. He was 18 at the time and it was his first start. After this I thought he had played centrally against Leicester but it says he was on the LW imagine he would have moved in centrally a lot which is why, but he played alright in that game moving into the middle of the park.

Otherwise no, just had one game centrally, and after that never had an opportunity there again. You can see what happened to the players in the opposition though like Bakayoko who got himself a 50m move with more opportunities, and Mbappe and Lemar continued to be rewarded with opportunities.

I think it is pretty simple, if he has improved his work rate, especially off the ball, he will have a chance with us. If not, he will not last much longer as long as Poch is the manager.

Fucking hell, I forgot about this game, if I remember Njie did his ligaments in it after looking promising. Such a shame Josh didn't kick on after this game, I think he pushed for the loan when Poch preferred he stayed if I recall, such a shame as it's been one bad decision after another. Hope he gets recalled and stays with the squad for remainder of the season.

Man, I still hope Josh steps up. So much potential.

Didn't look like he was playing center in this game. Looked like the switchy poch 3 of a 4231, so appeared on left, right and also centre. That said he had some lovely bits in that clip. One thing I noticed is how he trusts players with his passing, often passing to a player with a marker. Personally I think this should be the way but historically managers find this bad decision making. I remember Alex ferguson fuming about his team not passing to veron when tightly marked, exclaiming that's what he's there for, he can do it, and happily receive the ball. Also josh looked very nimble and havi g freedom on the pitch suits him. I think out of anyone he resemed eriksen when he played in the 3 4231 method. O viously differently but akin.

This compilation of his performance against Bristol City for Aston Villa is a really good showing of how Josh can be an asset for us. This was one of the games I managed to catch when he was at Villa and I thoroughly impressed by how well he did. You get to see some defensive pressure, evading pressure, good passing range and the ability to wriggle past players, also a nice heavily deflected goal to top it off

Thanks @JakeTHFC for the video and for using Freddie Joachim "Waves" as the background music.

Is it not slightly telling that, in an effort to empahsise the potential of the kid, we're trawling through videos from 2017 against weak opposition?

It's really weird, I think he's got everything he needs to succeed but it's just not happening. The loans aren't working, maybe time to get him back for the coaching squad to have a look first hand?

His problem is that in order to put in the performances he needs game time in his best position of CM, which he just isn’t getting. I’m sure if someone was willing to put up with some dross but to back him for half a season he would end up being a beast

He has the ability and let's assume that he has the work rate for one moment. He still has to win the respect of the senior team and show that he can be relied upon and not be just a passenger in difficult matches. Playing centrally has nothing to do with this.

Poch is a very stubborn man and even this injury crisis will not deter him from promoting youth using this method of "earning acceptance from his senior teammates".

Perhaps going out on loan when Poch asked him to stay meant that the senior team never had that opportunity to develop that respect for his ability.

Obviously football is all about interpersonal relationships and we have no idea about their dynamic within the club.

But based on what we can see, having Pochettino coach and evaluate Onomah dot the next 5 months has to be better for him than Steve Bruce doing it again. Training with our players will pull him to a higher level than that Sheffield squad ever could

Further to that it is clear both of his loan spells have not worked out on the pitch but that doesn’t mean he has learned nothing. I imagine he is more receptive to the 'Pochettino method” than at any point in the last 5 years. He's basically at the same crossroads Kane talked about during his last two loans.

I’m sure if he really wants to succeed at Spurs he still can.
