Really good up till the pens first wasn't so much down to him. Not the biggest CB but looks a class player to me

He looks like a centre back who can actually play football. Two silly cock ups for the penalties otherwise a very good performance. We have five very good centre backs in Sanchez, Vertonghen, Dier, Toby and Foyth. I am sure Man United would like any of them.

First penalty he was put in a shit situation and panicked, second penalty was just a daft needless tussle.

He'll learn from it, move on, and become better because of it. Better to make those mistakes at 3-0 up than at 0-0/1-0.

Maybe the fact that we were 3-0 up played a small part too. If we were drawing maybe he doesn’t make those challenges. Might be wishful thinking, though.

Not bothered anyway, I like seeing that shit from a youngen. He’s seems a smart kid so I’m sure he’ll learn.

Utd's problems with CBs is more about Mourinho than them. He could turn any of ours into jibbering wrecks in no time.

More to the point if we were drawing Trips doesn't attempt a nutmeg just outside his own box and we retain a 3-0 lead. I'd hope!

He's not registered for the UCL matches so hopefully he gets some game time at Palace.

First pen is trippiers fault, for the second...

Look at foyth having to be the RB. You'll note Ben Davies has kept some sort of position and sissoko has tracked his runner but where's the right back

100% the reason why we are defensively shakey these days and why Hugo makes more mistakes is trippier and to a lesser extent Davies.

Walker would've been back on that wolves player leaving him blocked to pass back or aimlessly cross which Toby or foyth clears up

I think it shows a good faith from Poch after just one good game in the League Cup, choosing to start with Foyth. Despite the two penalty decisions, he did a good job yesterday and I look forward to seeing more of him in the PL.

on the whole it wasn't a confidence inspiring debut if you are him, but i suspect many of the supporters saw quite a bit to like. He was good on the ball, although, i do think he invited pressure a couple of times when he didn't need to. There was one particular time dribbling in the second half when he was pretty close to the last man back and the forward was forcing him in a direction he didn't seem to want to go. Off the ball, he was pretty good for the most part. The two PKs were poor or tired decisions and seemed a bit naive. He's young and will make naive mistakes as he did yesterday. It all comes down to how quickly he learns from them and if he increase his savviness quo

Great catch. And if you look at the Man City goal, the same issue existed. Ben had 5-7 yards on Mahrez near midfield and was jogging back looking at the ball ignoring Mahrez which allowed Mahrez to blow by him. Davies did far better yesterday but he still struggles with speed as Trips is prone to do. These guys have to anticipate what the opposing players are going to do to give them the time they need to not find themselves out of position.

Pretty sure it was trippier and winks giving the ball away on the half way line which left foyth exposed back there.

Both penalties were Foyth fault.
Yes Tripps was fecking about but Foyth made the challenge and the second one he slipped and lost momentum.
I'm just glad we won because this boy is going to be a world class defender and if we'd lost or drawn it might have effected his confidence moving forward.
Can't wait to see more of Foyth on match day.

Fair play to Poch for not taking him off after he conceded the 2nd penalty. His confidence was shot at that point and he was a liability but Poch saw the bigger picture and realised hooking him then could have destroyed his confidence for the rest of the season. Well worth the risk of dropping 2 pts when we are not exactly swimming in options at CB and will need the lad over the Xmas period.

Until today, the praise was a bit exaggerated imo. But today he confirmed he's a very good player.

Classy. Looks so comfortable. A few nerves, but understandable. He could be awesome.

The comparisons to other players were ott, the praise and excitement for a really exciting young player was if anything underwhelming. Fans should be able to go ott with excitement for a young player bedding into their squad.

Poor conditions, unlucky breaks and a physical pacey opponent. Juan faced it all today and he stood up to every single challenge. He learned from his mistakes from wolves, was targeted by a hostile crowd and still was constantly in the face of every Palace attacker, putting his foot in, getting his blocks in, while being a reliable outlet for bringing the ball out from the back. That's all before getting to the fact that he was able to add the finishing touch to the most decisive bit of action on the day.

Yesterday he was just another promising footballer, today he is a promising dominant central defender.
