That’s not really the point is it, Arsenal wouldn’t suddenly play one of their youth strikers just because we are playing Foyth. If he’s playing In the first team he’d need to be able to cope.

I’m not saying he’s shit, I’m just saying he’s not ready. People are getting very very touchy about this...god forbid anyone have realistic expectations about a young player on SC.

It's a very touchy subject on here Tucker, you've got people who proclaim Josh Onomah as the best CM prospect in "world" football, and that isn't a joke.

I agree with you about Foyth FWIW, nowhere near ready for the Prem yet. Makes a lot of errors and gets afforded slack not connected with a lot of other non-favourable first teamers.

I think Foyth looks pretty tasty and have said he could be the Heir to Jan in regard to his silkiness but I would agree I don't think he is ready for regular prem football as of yet, he needs to work on his strength and stability but he for sure looks a player.

Imo he is ready for lesser PL games alongside Toby or jan. Might have slight worry in a 2 but definitely in a 3 100%. Have to agree on U23. Just don’t see how it can do any harm same with KWP.

I agree with you both. He is not ready ........ just yet. I think he will be awesome in the years to come. Lets give him some time. A game against Rochdale will be good for him. I think with Juan and Dave the future looks bloody awesome though. Culture and brawn, I like it!

onomah, kwp, edwards, now foyth, it seems that praising young players for their potential here would attract some "rational" or "realistic" fans to put a damper on other's excitement on the development of our own talents

Surely the point is that he doesn't need to be ready yet. We have Toby, Jan, Sanchez and Dier, so unless there is an absolute emergency he can continue to progress in less important matches, which is exactly what he's doing.

Nothing wrong with praising potential. Everything wrong with saying he’s better than current international centre backs who’ve established themselves in top teams. We have a whole thread that laughs at Liverpool fans for making those kinds of claims.

Nah, you're saying a lot of nonsense tbh. And that's why everyone is reacting to it. There's no cult.

No one said he's Beckenbauer's second coming and no one said he should start. So your comments are really unnecessary.

Sending him to a championship side and saying that everyone can bully him does not mean having realistic expectations. Far from it.

God forbid anyone praising a young player who had a good game in the cup

He has made a good introduction. For the most part looks calm on the ball with decent reading of the game.

Not seen him bullied yet.

I wouldn't loan him out at this stage. There is a case for him being 4th choice centre back. If there is scope for him to get game time with us ahead of more regular game time at a Championship side. I would choose him staying here.

With our injuries to Wanyama, Winks and Dembele there would have been opportunity for Onomah to get some game time this season.

I'd only loan if there is no chance of game time or being much rawer in their development than Foyth is.

A loan would be a complete waste IMO. Unfortunately we got binned out of the Haribo Cup a bit early this year, otherwise he'd have had a few more chances. He'll get plenty of games next season and will be training with the First XI which will be much better for his development than getting lumps kicked out of him in the Championship. Hasn't done Onomah any favours has it. Talk of him being bullied is a load of bollocks as well. I've only seen Sanchez physically bullied by Rondon this season and even that only lasted 5 seconds and happened because Sanchez was off balance.

For loans it depends how far down the pecking order you are.

Foyth is arguably 4th choice for a position we play 2 in. So if he stays there is a good chance he'll get game time and if we get injuries then he'll get a lot of game time.

If he stays with the team he is more likely to settle in and feel part of things being with the team all the time than he would on loan.

Onomah is probably 5th choice in a postion we play 2 in. Though he could also get some games in the more advanced position.

So these two make sense to stay.

Looked great for most part. Was goal his fault? Really not sure should Trippier have been on cover.

Reminds me of John Stones really - good on the ball, decent pace, can defend but equally positionally not there yet and liable to lose concentration

Could be world class but might not develop how we would hope but seems to have “something” about him at a very early stage in his career

Pretty much but it also comes down to poch having favourites. If it was down to CM I'd have josh before sissoko (and winks in his current form) which means that he would have likely started a few of the cup games there.

Great composure on the ball. Just his decision making and positional play letting him down at times.

We all know that Foyth has it in him to be a bit of a baller, but - and I'm going to be a bit old school here - there was something else tonight.

Growing up in La Plata, he will have seen serious snow twice in his life, once in 2007 and once in 2012. True Fact.

And yet with London being ravaged by the Beast from the East and Wembley auditioning for the remake of Ice Station Zebra, he turns up in short sleeves and no gloves, giving absolutely no fucks whatsoever.

I expected that from Trippier. He's from the North and was probably sad he couldn't play in skins, but I didn't expect it from Foyth.

Toughness to complement the silkiness. It bodes well.

Mate he’s from the north of England, not north of The Wall. Our weather is basically the same as London’s but with cleaner air :ROFLMAO:

imo Foyth was slightly caught off guard with his body shape. But to me the biggest problem came from Dier, who was far too deep and too wide left which totally ruined the shape of the back four which left our Foyth exposed.

Question... Good enough to play v Swansea? I'm not sure I'd risk it if Jan and Toby are fit...
