What's a progressive pass exactly?

Progressive passes and runs identifies actions which advance the ball 10 or more yards in attack, or into the 18-yard box. A successful progressive pass or run doubles the likelihood that the attacking team will score within the next seven seconds, on average

Saw this from fivethirtyeight but not sure if Opta sees the same way.

Add this to most chances created in WC and yet some still doubt him. Have to say all these stats make me think even more we should give him a try In midfield especially with Aurier improvement.

*sigh*

People doubt him playing at RB, there's an article going round somewhere which states that we are statistically weaker when he plays there and we give up a lot of chances from that side, that's where the doubt comes from. He should 100% play if we are going 3 at the back because that's where he excels.

But I think the fact is 3 at the back all round just doesn’t suit us. We lose a creative/attacking player and find it hard to break teams down. I’m not disputing defensively he is a concern. But when you see all the creative stats you feel it’s a waste to not have him in the team in some way. Obviously made my feelings known re midfield, it just seems worth a go considering it’s currently our weakest area.

At the moment we have a choice between him and KWP, I would honestly feel more confident with KWP playing the bigger matches, Trippier I feel would be alright for games like today and Cardiff.

I’m so tired of him, he’s one of the most overrated player I’ve seen in our club. Just leave I’ve had enough him. Never rated him, has always said he’s overrated and shocking defensively. Him and Davies needs to go, nowhere near good enough
Can’t believe Poch is wasting one of the best players that have come out from our academy when we have average fullbacks
KWP needs to leave for his own best

Complete dog shit right now. Wasted an opportunity to make some real money off him this summer. He's so fucking bad at defense.

I really dislike him as a player - he is so predictable. People wonder why Hugo comes out - that is why...

Team target him, they targeted him today and so did other teams eg Barca and even Liverpool

Either passes backwards, does that little chip over, or its a cross. Nothing else. That first goal is exactly why Lloris has been so quick off his line. These fullbacks are horrid.

And fucking points fingers to show the entire world where he wants to pass to. Fucking idiot. Fucking finger pointer.

Aurier and KWP i think from now on, even if defensively suspect atleast they offer more to their play

Neither are anymore defensively suspect than Trippier. And I prefer both of their offensive games to Trippiers.

Trippier would fit fantastically in Moyes' ManU squad. Crosses galore. It's the most basic form of attacking and we've championed this guy over it.

He's such a difficult player to carry when the team isnt playing well.

When we're firing on all cylinders and against inferior opposition he looks great.

Like Davies, not quite good enough for a team aspiring to win the league.

Just not athletic enough, shits himself against anyone with pace and can't beat anyone going forward. Yes his crosses and delivery is great but no good when he can't get into any decent positions. Want to see KWP against West ham.

Aurier is chaotic and reckless but should start in front of Trippier who simply cannot defend.

Ridiculous RB situation.

Aurier has been really solid the last few games he's run out. Even in the opener against Newcastle he had a killer cross in for Dele's goal. Its time to just roll with he and KWP.

Aurier at least has the pace that a full back should have if he may be lose cannon at times. Trippier is so slow and he loves ball watching

KWP should also be really be given a chance, surely he deserves it!

Trippier is very good as a wingback in a back three formation against midtable dross.

He's a disaster waiting to happen in a back four matched up with CL-quality wingers.

It can be both.
