Trippier is ok and has a lot of energy, but I don't know how much of his plaudits are due to standing out in a low quality team. I appreciate though that until he has a chance to step up you cannot judge that though.

I'd be disappointed if Fredericks didn't get a chance, to be honest.

Often happens and I rarely see it as a good thing. Adam, Downing, Bent, Bentley are just a few examples of players having standout seasons at smaller clubs when the team played through them and struggling at bigger clubs who didn't. I think this applies more to Ings than Trippier (both of whom i've watched in the flesh this season twice). I appreciate they fulfill certain requirements (home grown, cheap, hard working) but in terms of technical ability and intelligence I think they're both bang average.

A relationship with Burnley and Dyche if he is still there would be a great thing for the club also.

A great place to send young players on loan, SD clearly is a smart bloke when it comes to developing players and giving them the correct mentality.

I've been very impressed with Trippier this season and was hoping we might be sniffing around for him. Despite the objections of some, genuinely feel he will add to the team more so than Davies and could easily see him breaking in as the first choice before November. Walker would need to be on top top form to keep him out of the side which would only be a good thing.

He's ok as a back up I guess but he's average at best. Fairly quick and ok technique but nothing to write home about and defensively iffy. Does work his balls off to be fair. I'd put this in the Davies bracket of transfers, not bad, not great.
I don't think he's a world beater or anything but yours is a very negative outlook. Highest number of successful crosses in the PL this season according to Opta. When you've got a centre forward like Kane, signing someone who is an accurate crosser of the ball is definitely promising.

It's based on what i've seen of him in the flesh. I think he's ok, but I'm surprised people are so excited by him. Great attitude, questionable quality, especially defensively. I see him as a squad filler and cover but not much more. He'll get my full support if he signs of course and I hope if he does he proves me wrong.

Truly encouraged that we have looked here in England for a decent homegown player rather than a cheap import. Nothing against overseas players but great we are looking nearer to home.
Brings back memories of Dawson, Huddlestone, Lennon and dare I say it Jenas!!

Agreed. Personally pleased to see us clearly making a return to investing in young English talent rather than cheap solutions from abroad, which actually seem to have just as much if not more uncertainty than the young and even "unproven" English players.

I am all for this transfer!!!

I watched him a few times this season and always caught my eye. Always gives 100% and that goes a long way.

Trippier has attributes that will certainly strengthen us especially with his decision making in the final 3rd. This is where we have suffered a lot this season when Walker was playing. His final ball and even what to do with the ball sometimes caused us problems.

All in all its a win win transfer because I am hoping for Walker to really push on because it's a shame how he was very highly rated amongst us fans but lately those views are changing. He needs this and more importantly the club needs healthy competition.

Signing Davies enabled Danny Rose to push on and have belief in himself which has now resulted to him becoming our 1st choice left back.... And a damn good one.

Trippier is a very clever option and I hope we do complete the deal.

Makes a lot of sense to me. Clyne isn't much better than Walker. Trippier will keep Walker on his toes.

Same as Sandro Walker has a very bad injury record and it would not surprise me if he was to be sold. Maybe Villa?

They have a high intensity style which from a pressing point of view isn't too dissimilar to what we have here. Could be worth trying to send Yedlin/Fredricks on loan then should we purchase Trippier.

JJ and the article said that he will be brought in to challenge, not replace, Walker.

It's a good point too. Walker has stagnated at Spurs, even taking into account his injuries. You only have to look at Rose this season to see what some healthy competition can do for your game if you have the right mentality.

It could be the making, or ending of Walker's Spurs career.

I don't think he has stagnated, he just knew he was undroppable when Naughton was here. I wouldn't say he had a couldn't care less style but the crazy passes he made contributed to goals or at least panic in our defence.

Are we stockpiling RBs

KW, KWP, Yanklin and now this guy.

Any chance he can play LB as well, as Davies seems to have fallen out of favour and that's where we need depth imo.

Well Davies has a lot of improvement to do, but I think Rose's unexpected step up in form has not allowed Davies to be able to have a run of games to build some form. I think we are fine with the two of them in the long-run.

Trippier, Ings and Wimmer would be a cracking start to the window and would probably cost around under £15m as a trio!

think he is a player who has found a place where he is comfortable in his own skin, don't think he will cut it at the top end of the PL
