I get that people will have an affinity towards him because he is a nice guy who waited for his chance, never complained and is in all honestly quite decent when played in the right position against the right opposition. But as Tottenham fans, surely we can agree that he’s one player we can realistically upgrade on?

I like him, I don’t want to jump on his back after every poor performance - but it would be detrimental to us as a club if we cannot improve wherever we can, whenever we can - purely because we somehow owe him something. Football is ruthless like that - I just think we can do better.

Don't disagree at all. It's the people clamouring to get shot in January after a few poor performances I don't get. It's so fucking fickle.

In all honestly, most of us could clearly see Trippier was a big downgrade from Walker. Aurier is the key man here. He should really be our first choice right back and I do feel like Trippiers performances aren’t good enough to warrant keeping him as number 2 over KWP.

I think the issue at the beginning of the season was KWP was a complete prem rookie and Aurier was new to the league.

Selling Trippier could have left us with a complete lack of experience on the right hand side.

But Aurier is settling and hopefully KWP will be ready come next season.

So selling Trippier might be an option in the summer but not this month.

It's more it might make business sense. There was rumours of Leicester maybe bidding big which could help us strengthen other areas. That offer might not be there in summer. It's blatantly obvious Trippier isn't going to be long term our right back, there's hope Aurier will be. Aurier needs more starts to settle and show it. Also KWP cannot spend much more time out of the fold, he's 21 in a few months and he has too much potential to not start being involved.

Yeah that’s fair really. After KWP made his debut and got motm, you’d have thought he’d have played more of a role really and for whatever reason, he hasn’t. It would still be a gamble having him as the only alternative to a settled-in Serge.

Part of me does think though that Trippier has enough weaknesses in his game that I really think we’d be fine should he leave in January. From the little I’ve seen of Kyle, I’d guess he’d be better than Trippier, highly doubt he’d be any worse.

As some have already said, it’s not an alarming situation but I wouldn’t lose any sleep if he does go, wouldn’t lose any should he stay. He’s just a 6/10 for me, and I kind of want more 7s and 8s.

Really don't know what has happened to him lately. He seems to have forgotten how to cross. Or only Winks can find him in good positions to attack?

Really don't like or get this constant rotating of full backs in general. I'm not sure any of our current full backs are having particularly great seasons and it's down a lot to them being in and out of the team and unable to build much rhythm.

Why can Walker start every game for City, started 48hrs ago then started again tonight yet we whenever there's a midweek game it's rotate, even when week between games it's rotate. If it was to keep players happy I'd get it but last season when Rose and Walker were clearly first choice we'd do it still.

Later in season when we've got Utd mid week and the Juve games we're gonna see one set on weekend, then different set in midweek, but what's it for? There's no way Trippier or Aurier run more or are more affected physically than Kane, Dele and Son yet those 3 will all start 3 games in those weeks, along with 2/3 more players but not the fullbacks. Heaven protect the fullbacks.

I just don't get it, how Walker has been this season has proven it's not necessary and I really think Poch should just pick two and play them every game (within reason apart from odd game maybe) until end of season.

Tripps is this weeks scapegoat, last week it was Hugo. If it was left up to some people most of the team would be sold. This is the same guy who played an absolutely blinder against Madrid, have a little faith.

Leicester rate him very highly and are apparently prepared to pay silly money for him. If it wasn’t for the cloud hanging over Toby and Wanyama’s untimely injury/period to return match fitness then I’d have moved him on. We’ve Aurier, KWP, Dier and in an emergency Alderweireld whom can all cover RB. The latter having done so on numerous occasions for arguably the best international team in Europe at the moment, Belgium.

So if you think we can upgrade on him, are you saying we should sign another RB?

This always happens, fans are so quick to knee jerk and call on players that they have absolutely no idea about, do we know if KWP is ready to play high pressured PL and CL matches?, is he mentally prepared to be thrown in to become a first teamer? What happens if/when KWP makes a mistake...will that affect him, will he be able to brush it off and bounce back?

I can't believe pepole are actually suggesting to sell Trippier this window, it's just an utterly stupid idea with no thought behind it. Trippier maybe in bad form at the moment which happens with all players but he will improve...let's not forget that he's a weapon, his crossing is unrivaled and he can be utilised to play to our strengths.

Tbf we won’t know any of that about KWP until he gets his chance.

Same way we didn’t know if Dele or Kane or anyone else who is young and trying to breakthrough

Yeah I think that's the point...only one man knows and that's the man in charge of picking the team, pretty sure he's qualified to make those decisions.

I wouldn't be calling for him to be sold in the summer if it wasn't for KWP. I like Trippier but I just don't think that he's going to improve further and at his age now it would be sensible to get a big fee for him and bring through KWP who is maturing. It would free up money to be spent on other areas and I don't think we'd be any worse off, especially in the long term.

Again he wouldn’t know either until KWP is put into that situation.

All poch will know is if he’s willing to risk it or not.

Atm he’s obviously not willing to risk it but come summer he’s going to have a decision to make.

KWP will want to play and poch will have to choose between him or Trippier imo

Because people clamour for KWP. They've barely seen him play so he must be better.
That is a very short termist view. KWP is 20 years old now, he's not too young anymore. He can't possibly impress if he's not given the opportunity.

He may not be at Trippier's level just yet but I think his ceiling, along with Aurier's, is much higher. I don't think it would be good for KWP's development and confidence for Tripps to stay much longer. Additionally I think everyone recognises that Aurier was a long term buy and that he will improve with a season under his belt so selling him would make zero sense.

How would he not know? He sews him in training every day, he's able to make an assessment on his ability and his mentality...all this needing to play to know whether he's truly ready is nonsense...When he's ready to play consistently he'll be thrown in, just like Winks was.
