Mostly awful today, especially in the first half where he was actually atrocious. I feel like leaning towards the above statements, which is a shame because I do really like him as a player in possession, he's creative and tidy but time and again he is a weak link against the very top sides.

He did ok. Better than in the away game. The whole team was off the pace in the first 25 mins. After that all improved

Blaming Trips today is a bit harsh, he had virtually no cover in front of him and often had to decide which one of 2 players to mark.

Defensively, most fullbacks would have struggled today with the way we set up, particularly in the first 35 minutes.

Said in another thread we probably have 7/8 top draw players in our 1st xi that the elite European clubs would come for. And although decent players the elite would not come for Trippier davies Dier. The other individuals in the team have set the bar high. If we want to be the very best and if you want to be harsh than those 3 could easily be upgraded.

Don’t completely agree with you re Dier but there cannot be any argument about the other 2 unfortunately

trippier and davies are definitely replaceable compared to eriksen, verts, kane etc but with our limited resources can they be upgraded easily? i doubt that

He in my honest opinion was piss poor today. We need better pace quality wing backs
I've been holding off from sharing this opinion for a while as him and Davies in general have been very good......it's just they are lacking a lot of things that we will eventually need in order to win something big.

Unfortunately whenever we come up against another side (City) whose full backs are very much traditionally wing backs, Trips and Davies flaws are out for all to see. They lack the intensity, the athleticism, the ability to cause their opposite number a real headache and, as in Trippier's case, aren't great defensively.

I'll still stand by my original belief that Aurier will be no.1 next season and hope KWP gets more chances. However, if Poch has doubts about Aurier then these are areas where we really need an upgrade.

Why does every single one of our players have to get into an elite level club in order for us to be considered a top club?

It’s a fucking stupid thing to say. Be happy that we’ve got a half dozen elite level players and some very decent players on top of that.

Re Trippier, I’ve always thought he’s a great back up RB and I’ve not changed my mind but I actually didn’t think he was that bad yesterday tbh.

Because a certain poster on here is obsessed with 11 v 11 comparisons.

Sess and a right back, I think it’s a shame we sold Fredricks I think
He had great potential loads of pace.
