Has been fantastic so far, his delivery has been superb. Will be interesting to see him against better sides and whether he can maintain this form.

I agree and I hope he can. The extra time in these international games really helps his game but i'm sure Belgium will look to stifle him as an outlet/provider in the next game, if he comes through that having had a good game, his confidence will be sky high going into the knock-outs.

Reckon TAA will play against Belgium.

That's basically what Southgate was saying. Keep the troops happy in training, too, which is a key aspect in tournament play.

Fair enough. I like TAA generally, it's just hard dropping a player who's performing so well like Trippier. But with the next round assured, i'm sure there are a couple of key games ahead anyway.

The thing is Carrasco as their left wingback is their Achilles heel, and they are are ever so vulnerable there. If he does rest him and play TAA, he could have a field day down that side too, with his pace.

Trips has been way better than either Young or Rose on the left, but TAA would add pace on the right, which could be handy in future games. I'll go with Southgate, he's done nothing wrong so far.

But not the captain..... he wants playing time, as much as possible. Love to see him lift the golden boot and with the way both he and the team are playing he has every chance.

He wants, being the relevant statement. Of course Harry wants to play as much as possible. And yes, I'd love to see him lift the golden boot. As to whether it's right for our progress in the tournament is a very much more difficult judgement, and one I really think you can make a good argument for either way.

Continuity, momentum and confidence vs. risk of injury, fatigue, harder draw etc.

Mr Southgate has a tricky decision to make

I'm sure Gareth will do his best to cater for both scenarios.
I just hope that all Spurs players come home safe and sound: ie without injury. Not so worried for other teams' players though, as long as it's not to the detriment of the England team's chances.

If there is any lingering niggle then Trippier won't be risked against Belgium, and an ideal chance to give TAA some playing time and WC experience. I'd expect to see a few players rotated in to keep the squad fresh, like Rose in for Young, Rashford in for Sterling, maybe Cahill and Dier to start. But Kane will start - he is the captain and going for golden boot, so he won't be dropped but will probably get subbed off early again.

After scoring his third goal:)

A hungry Kane is what's good for England further into the tournament. Resting him is nonsense, he's there for goals and records, that's what will benefit England.

And will his hunger decrease if he's not played? Of course it won't. How about if he gets injured?

I'm not saying I disagree but people seem very definitive on a point which clearly has good arguments either way

Not that tricky. Kane starts.

OK - kind of missing the point of what’s best for Kane’s individual pursuit of the golden boot vs what’s best for England, but I guess we can agree to disagree
