I can't actually remember a RB having a more impressive phase for us than that of Trippier's in the second half of last season - probably since Danny Thomas back in the mid eighties.
What about Dario Srna? A few years back you used to go on about him so much that I'm now convinced he had a long and successful spell playing for Spurs.

I’ve said this for a long time, I want us to sell him. I respect what he’s done for the club, he’s improved massively since he joined but I can’t see him improve much more. His crossing is excellent but other than that he doesn’t offer much. Doesn’t have the pace, doesn’t take on his opponent and is weak defensively. While Aurier hasn’t been much better this season I’m willing to give him one more season before I really judge him. Kyle Walker-Peters. That’s the man we should really push, he’s got so much potential. He’s fairly fast, is very good at getting past his opponent and is so young he will only improve. I hope that next season we sell Trippier and take a chance on KWP

I thought that Juve focused on Kieran tonight and he mostly did OK. In the second half he struggled but all in all I though the did OK.

Offensively he needs support as he can't take players on and he looked quite isolated. Davies with Son was much stronger offensively (and defensively) due to the teamwork.

I really hope he doesn't become a scapegoat, like many players you need to play to his strengths- in his case get the ball to him early so he can sling in a decent ball - that didn't happen tonight.

Trippier is a competent operator, but nothing more. He lacks the pace to get beyond defences and is far too predictable with his play. Yes, he's adequate, but we should look for better option.

Trippier can't defend. That's he's biggest downfall.

I personally (with all his early faults) prefer Aurier

Trippier's game isn't about getting behind defences, and even then he's not too bad at it and I can immediately think of a few goals he's created in the last year/year and a half by doing so.

Both Trippier and Davies have a better final ball than Walker did and Rose. What we can’t forget is that this is secondary, their primary job is defend and this is where Trippier falls short... he lacks positional sense and due to him being pretty slow he doesn’t have the turn of speed to recover. As others have said, he’s a decent player but doesn’t have the all round attributes that we need in our full backs.

Does anyone remember Corluka v Ashley Young? Sloth v a pacey tricky winger? Corluka used his strength and excellent positioning to completely nullify Young, so it’s not all about pace but if youlack strength and don’t know where you should be like the back of your hand then you’ve got problems.

Trippier isn't that slow. He's no Walker but it's not as his pace is a liability. His problem is he can be caught square too often, but he's getting better at that and that can be easily coached. He was good defensively against United, Liverpool and Arsenal recently and didn't really do too much wrong last night.

I don’t think either are good enough. There is no doubt that we are less effective from the WB positions this season than we were last season with Walker and a fit Rose. It’s early days but I think we made a mistake this summer in buying Aurier from among the RB options available.

Is that when we put Zokora on him at right back and he got tore a new one and we put Charlie on him and he couldn't get out of his pocket all game?

I loved Corluka

I’m going to keep say it, Trippier is not good enough if we want to win the league, this is not a overreaction I’ve said this before. Poch has developed him to his maximum potential, imo he can’t get better than this. And if this is the best he will be then it’s not good enough. The problem is that Aurier hasn’t been much better but I’m willing to give him one more season before I judge him. Kyle Walker-Peters should start far more game for us, he’s 21 now and is bench by 2 RB that barely better than him. Next season I think we should sell Trippier and play KWP more.

What are you basing the rating of KWP on?

He’s totally exposed against pace, positionally isn’t great and despite having an excellent cross on him he doesn’t get to show it as he can’t beat his man. Simply not good enough.
