Always thought he’d flourish when we sold Walker. At the time I said that Walker was the only one I’d be happy to lose because we have a better replacement.

Not trying to put a downer on England and Trippiers tournament so far but it’s important to remember that his opponents so far have been Tunisia, Panama and Columbia. Not exactly world beaters.

Doing very well at the moment but I expect Croatia to get through. We'll see how he fares v a decent player like Perisic if we can get past Sweden.

Trippier has been our best player in the WC and that is really saying something with Kane leading the scoring. His all round play has been excellent, yes ok he fully admits he misjudged the goal last night but that apart he has been great.

Shaddap you bitter Welshman

You know what, I was actually pleased you went through. You deserved it. Even cheered when Dier scored (admittedly I smiled when Henderson missed though)

Shout out to Danny Rose too. Thought he did well when he came on. Won some free kicks and almost scored. I was praying that he wouldn’t be forced to take a pen due to it all being even after all the players took their pens. Can you imagine if it was all down to Danny and he missed. Good to see him Influence the game when he came on.

I cant remember which journo said it but on the last or one before of the Sunday Supplement podcast, he said that the train of thought is that Tripps has the best right foot since Beckham......

Huddlestone had an absolutely velvet pass as well.

And to think I got laughed at for saying I was much more happy when I saw his name on the team sheet instead of Serge.
Cracking little player Trippier is.

Outstanding tonight
And seriously...the “Burnley Beckham” played better in that game than celebrity footballer beckham ever did for England

!

Beckham pretty much carried England for a couple of years, but if you want just one match as an example, try the Greece game where he dragged us to qualification almost on his own (with a bit of help from Teddy). Trippier's been excellent this World Cup, and last night particularly, but to say he's played better than Beckham ever did isn't really true.

Edit: I may have replied before reading the very next post which also mentions the Greece game.

Beckham has Trippier posters on his wall.

Victoria calls him Kieran

Football is a funny ol game anyone would think Trippier is a better full back than Rose or worse still Young a better left back to Rose. It seems so natural for people to slag of Aurier because Trippier has delivered a few good crosses and set plays at the world cup....but when called to actually defend we saw with Colombia's goal.

I personally would sell Trippier now his price is through the roof and go with KWP and Aurier.

Bit poor to suggest he can't defend based on one set piece. He defended well in open play as far as I remember.

Defending has never been Trippier strongest point however in this system its tailor made for Trippier to bomb forward.
