Sadly that is the way football forums work.

There are players who can be criticised and those who can’t. As a result those who can be criticised get a ridiculous amount of it resulting in people thinking they are rubbish.

My opinion on Tripper is he doesn’t have the pace to play wing back in a back four. He isn’t great defensively but Poch’s system asks the full backs to primarily attack.

Trippier arguably has the best cross in the league and works well in a back three.

Given that England played a back three he shone at the World Cup .

So the question is do we play a formation to suit him? IMO we shouldn’t.

Our attacking mids are our strength and we should play three most of the time.

Like most prem players Trippier has strengths and weaknesses, it is a question of whether he fits us.

I don’t believe he does.

This.

Yeah I guess for me, I tend to ignore flippant comments both positive and negative without any real basis. Sometimes I feel 90% are making valid points which tend to be ignored and then the responses are to the 10% who are over egging the pudding.

I've actually changed my mind on the team tonight, I think Trippier will be better suited vs PSV at home where we will have a lot of possession and could quite easy score 3/4 and save Aurier for Palace where we will have to contend with Zaha.

I struggle to feel comfortable with Aurier against Zaha. Feels like a nailed on penalty.

I think if given a proper chance, KWP will take the spot snd not let go. He is good enough already, IMO. It’s up to us to give him a proper run of games. He fits Poch’s system perfectly. Him and Aurier should be the RB’s.
I agree it will be KWPs position - once he's added about 5 kg of lean muscle.

Maybe the rest will do him good. Still a quality player in there even though he has struggled this season.
I think Kane and Toby are the last World Cup player to not get injured now. Toby didn't play much earlier in the year though and Kane was injured earlier in the year (although came back too soon and could maybe do with a rest from international duty). It's crazy to think players need to get injured to rest.

Sorry it’s quicker for me just to post my tweet. But trippier is killing Walker this season stats wise bar pass completion. But he’s made x4 more crosses so that would explain that.

They play such vastly different roles, its hard to see these stats and see that they mean much in terms of player vs player.

I think 95% of us would prefer Walker regardless of what those stats say.

Walker and Trippier don't play the same role for example Walker occasionally plays on the overlap but often as an underlapping Winger to stop counter attacks hence him not getting as many crosses in as that's left to Mahrez or Sterling.

I know they're not your stats but the person who compared would do well do actually show us stats which rebuttal the original claims about Trippier's weaknesses, even if we agree that Trippier is contributing to the team positively going forward which he undoubtedly is, defensively he isn't, we don't need stats to tell us that.

I'm pretty certain that is him.

Yeah it’s my tweet. I was just surprised that firstly walker has contributed nothing going forward which considering city dominance in games is odd. And was also surprised that trippier stood up so well defensively. Personally maintain I’d try trippier on the right of a 3 in midfield.

I'd really like to see this too and see what happens. I've been cynical about his defensive quality's this season and on the whole think he lacks defensively but his passing is top notch. Maybe the best we have, if he's not he's definitely in the conversation of who is.

Walker also plays in a Pep team, where he doesn't take many risks with the ball whatsoever.

Trippier is by far the better footballer.
