not easy. as i said in another post, with Janssen, GKN, Vorm, Fernando and probably Aurier gone in the summer, that leaves us with 18 non-GK before we get to Skippy and other youth. There is a chance we lose Toby and, unfortunately Eriksen, which puts the squad down to 16, 2 keepers and then Skipp etc. Tough to also lose Trippier.
BUT if we can have a fast start to the summer window in terms of outs + sign Eriksen and Toby to new deals, I could see a Trippier deal happen.

Of course. But Trippier could have been sold last summer (or Aurier for that matter). Everything is just delayed because of our stupid transfer situation.

I don't know why you say this as if your footballing opinion on him made it something that was hard to believe beforehand :ROFLMAO:

Why is pointing such a massive deal btw? It's not usually at teammates.

Did pretty well with those shoes on tbf.

a few times he's fkd up and then pointed at a teammate as if they should have done better, he should put his hand up and own the mistake instead of trying to shift the blame. It looks so fkn bad when he does it.

Yeah, that must be exactly what he's doing...

...he must want to leave the best club he's ever played for to go and play under Sean Dyche again and Burnley would definitely pay what DL would want for a player of his calibre.

Or he's just showing a bit of respect to a manager and club that helped make him the (fantastic) player he is.

How do you know who/what he's pointing at or saying btw?

Lol@blaming him about blaming other players btw.

There was one incident off the top off my head during the Wolves debacle where he let his runner go and then turned round and started yelling at Foyth.

How do you definitely know who was more at fault? Whose man was it? What were the tactical instructions? Was anything possibly said between the defence before the incident?

Point is, only a very few people know for sure and one of them decides who plays.

Maybe Trippier is pointing for the fans benefit, just to remind some of them that there are 10 other players on the pitch, so it's not always one player's sole responsibility barring something like an own goal or...say, a stupid, reckless lunge in a penalty area/from behind for example.

6.45 In, the defence is in a line, Foyth has his man, trippier falls behind the line doesn't go with his runner turns round and lets Foyth know his feelings, his body language is pretty clear, it was clearer on the day as sky showed the replay of him letting Foyth know. He did similar vs City to hugo when we conceded this season also, albeit a lot calmer. I don't mean this as a character assassination of trippier but I just remembered a few examples of him doing what other posters suggested.

How do you know that was his runner?

Maybe it was. Or maybe he was letting him go because Foyth was meant to be picking him up?

Basically we have no idea who is meant to be doing what, or who people are meant to be picking up in the defence most of the time. We don't know what instructions they have been given.

We have no idea if Trippier is always being a prick when he points at people, or if sometimes he is justified in criticising them.

There are plenty of defenders, like Adams/Terry/Neville, as well as goalkeepers like Schmeiche/Seaman, who spent lots of time pointing at team mates and shouting at them. Doesn't always mean they were being a prick.

It seems a bit unfair to me that people are assuming that Trippier is always in the wrong when he does this.

Sure, he definitely has made some big mistakes, and it's possible he is shifting blame sometimes, or being a prick, when he points. But we have no real way of knowing if that is always the case or not.

Seems strange to me that so many fans are happy to automatically scapegoat Trippier in all of these situations, when really we have no idea what each defender is meant to be doing or who they are meant to be picking up in each situation.

If he was really that bad, and always being a prick to team mates, then why would Poch keep playing him?

Not sure it is as simple as some people like to make out.

Interesting, because in that clip I saw Foyth badly ball watching wrong side of his direct opposition, KT staying goalside with the attacker in his zone (we appear to play a zonal variant with some man marking on occasion), KT then having a problem when Neves is on the ball and has two attackers in his area, Foyth is in a terrible position and the player gets in behind him. Although the player came from Trippier's side, I'm pretty sure Foyth had the most to do with that whole incident tbh.

I linked the video, I mean ultimately we can judge it differently but Im not a fan of players chewing other players out especially when theyre more senior, I agree with you that theres always going to be a certain amount of it which is healthy, hell I was guilty of it when I played at sunday league level but theres been a few incidents where Ive not been happy with.

That trippier incident on Foyth, a few weeks later aurier vs arsenal stupidly gave away a freekick (which led to the vert pen) and he tried to blame Foyth somehow when again he needed his senior teammate and the time when Son got chewed out by Lamela and Eriksen for not passing when dele still scored yet they still felt the need to have a moan at son and I felt sonnys confidence was dented for a while after that. Its mostly the senior players ripping Foyth a new one when in my eyes they themselves fucked up and for me its telling that Ive not seen Alder or Vert do that to Sanchez and Foyth.
