Watched the game again and his overall play was actually very good. Constantly offering an outlet on the right, great movement and pacey passing. Unfortunately there were still the lapses in concentration. Honestly think he’s a wide right midfielder and not a full back.

For me he’s a total luxury. In How many big games against the big teams can we honestly say this guy makes the difference? Well, he does make a difference, a terrible difference as he gifts the opposition goals with his mistakes.

It’s all well and good he plays well when’s e are up against lower table teams and he curls some nice balls in, but the guy just isn’t good enough.

He’s a walking disaster defensively against good sides.

Too slow, can't beat a Man, no real shot on him apart from a close free kick. he would suck in midfield

RB is definitely his role. He's shown he can defend quite well but just has terrible mistakes In him and questionable effort when it comes to tracking back

Therefore he’s not for us.

He's having an awful season but people are going way overboard about how bad he is. When he is on form he is extremely dangerous going forward, and has shown that throughout his career until this season. I would be looking for a new first choice RB but i'd certainly prefer to keep Trippier over Aurier.

Hopefully we are already working on getting a new RB and can hopefully move Trippier on as early as possible. Because Poch likes to rotate the fullbacks, I'd be hesitant in even keeping him as a squad player because he'd still play too many games. He is only worth keeping if he is prepared to be dropped in against the weaker teams. Otherwise, I'd want him gone. Aurier can go to. Painful watching these two distinctly average players fight it out for a first team berth. We are better than that and need a better RB for where we want to be.

He’s carrying an injury that needs an op or game to game management. That’s affected his running and crossing. He may have to take the long term treatment option in the off season. That hasn’t helped the lack of pace to begin with. I think he is a useful player but always as back up. I don’t think he is first choice for a top 4 club.

What a fucking performance from this man tonight, held up sterling superbly, absolutely fantastic defensive problem, only criticism was he allowed Eriksen to take freekicks instead of him.

By far his best performance of the season. Was absolutely brilliant tonight. Hope he continues that the rest of the season. A FAR cry from every other game of this season.

He's not a bad player if he plays within his limitation. Problem this season before this match was that he really thought he was better than he is after an exceptional WC.

Credit where it's due. Extremely focused and determined performance today. Good use of the ball. Much more like it.

To be fair, his performance against Palace/Zaha was just as good at the weekend.

After his performances in the World Cup, I can't help but feel he's what many of us like to call a 'big game player'.

Either way, his last 2 performances have shown why a few (somewhat abused) members have fought his corner while he's been proclaimed as "shit" and "in desperate need of selling".

Chuffed for the guy.

He lost concentration twice against Palace that led to 2 Palace chances, he was better than usual in that match but wasn't anywhere as good as last night.

He lost concentration early on last night too, and Sterling glided past him like he wasn't there. But then he regrouped & put in a very good shift.

Same as with Zaha where, after a couple of instances, Trippier stuck to basics, added a bit of shithousery, got Zaha riled up & that was the end of his influence in the game.

In both games I think sissoko came over to help, both players have pace which trippier doesn't really have, so I think it helped him know someone could keep up with them if he didn't get the ball.

Not sure that's true especially when he let Zaha in for a late chance and Hugo had to pull off a save at the end of the match.

Anyway it's academic, don't want yo take away from his performance last night.
