Since there is no "player watch" thread on Kyle Walker I am starting one. I understand he's not among the most players at Spurs though.
He's been in for a lots of critic over the years - and rightly so, though at times the critic at times has been too much and wrong.
But in the few recent games it looks as if he's raised his game, quite a lot actually. I hope he keep his game at his new level.

Defender - KYLE WALKER (Tottenham)
It was a very professional display by Spurs at Bournemouth and arguably their best team performance this season. Admittedly Tottenham were not playing a team with the quality of Manchester City but that was not their fault.

Kyle Walker was impressive against City in the 4-1 win last month and even better against Bournemouth. The full-back is playing with so much confidence at the moment it's scary.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker put in a superb performance as his side crushed newly-promoted Bournemouth 5-1 at Dean Court.

The visitors got off the worst possible start, going 1-0 down within the first minute as Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie got the better of Danny Rose before firing past Hugo Lloris.

However, the hosts’ joy was short-lived and a Harry Kane equaliser from the penalty spot was soon followed by a burst of Spurs pressure which proved too hot to handle.

Kane helped himself to another two goals during his side’s 5-1 drubbing of Bournemouth and will rightfully earn the plaudits from Premier Leaguepundits and observers alike.

However, he wasn’t the only player to perform exceedingly well with Walker an influential figure in his usual attacking right-back spot, as illustrated by the table provided by Opta Stats above.

The England international contributed with four tackles, four interceptions, seven ball recoveries and 12 defensive duel winners – the latter as good as any other outfield player at Dean Court.

Walker is seemingly in a two-way tussle with Kieran Trippier for the regular right-back slot, yet based on recent performances between the two there can only be one winner.

Like the boy and feel that he has settled in again
after injury disrupted him last season.
Always capable of an error
and too tentative on his final ball when going forward
But, but but he has ability
and brings pace strength and determination to the defence.

What tune is this to?

Been better this season but his offensive play is beyond awkward.

Why must he charge forward, stop, feint to kick the ball several times then do some awkward chopped swing of his leg to kick the ball?

Good defensively this year but pretty insipid going forward, kills all of our momentum 9/10.

Please tell me someone else gets this?

The number of times he trips over his own feet or the ball is just embarrassing for a professional footballer.

Preaching to the pope here, mate.

His blind followers won't have any of it though. And they have no appreciation, apparently, of what we need from a FB in the final third in this system,.

If I had to pick a spurs player to represent me in an egg and spoon race, it definitely wouldn't be him, he's fast but definitely liable to break the egg sometime during the race.

He's pretty poor going forward, and that has been the case pretty much his entire spell with us. His crossing has always been abysmal, and it seems he may have gotten the instruction that if he cant get to the byline and deliver an early cutback, he's not allowed to cross.
Which is OK. I'd rather we kept the ball than Walker booting it behind the goal from an attempt at an early cross.

You, on the other hand, seem to use his ineptude going forward as a proof that he's getting skinned by every winger, fullback and their grandma.

He is a good athlete but he utterly useless going forward. He kind of reminds me of when you play someone who's new to FIFA and they keep hitting the run buttons and don't realise you need to dribble to get around opponents or they will easily dispossess you.

If only he had the ability to feint or dribble around an opponent or even deliver a across first time rather than checking back and slowing down play he would be a much better player.

We could always give KWP a run out in a Europa game off the bench. I doubt he's ready defensively but you never know until you try it.

Wouldn't have pegged you as a poster to slide into ad hominem. I'm disappointed thinktank!

No, you just have to have eyes and a functioning brain to see that that has indeed been the case for the last 2+ seasons.

Crosses galore have rained in on Walker's watch at RB.

The temerity of people who deny this is astounding. Actually, it's just plain stupid.

Saying that, if he continues in the same vein as he's played in the last two games we'll get along much, much better, kyle and I.

agreed, defensively and physically he might not be there just yet but he's certainly a more dynamic footballer than walker or trippier will ever be.

Slightly connected with this thread, but I thought Yedlin had a really good game against Newcastle yesterday.
