I don’t think Lamela was shit like some on here. Was the leader in our shift of play by pressing and harassing. I would place him ahead of Dele before Lamela in my mind.

When Lamela has scored and assisted at the rate of Dele over the past three years I'll make the case for for Lamela to start ahead of him, but until then, not for me.

I think Lamela’s technique is useful against busparkers, but his lack of pace was badly exposed yesterday. It was embarrassing watching him trying to waddle away from City’s defence on the rare occasions we broke through their press in the first half.
I think we were mostly off pace yesterday.Sometimes we have a hard time getting going. In this one I would imagine that we didnt expect City to be so sharp, that we could ease and play our dominant game. City was and we looked shocked and could not match their energy (funny enough)

Later Moura came in. A bit hungry but also he has played with energy in all games so far.
Every one else looked laxed in this big game.
Maybe we were thinking to the semifinal. We mostly looked in a daze.

Lamela is good at some things,Dele us dynamite in occasions. They are both not world class but better than many in the league.
They both have their days.
But up to now I dont think you can count on either of them

I think though that Lamela is great at pressing and Moura is great at ball control and thats somethingblacking with Lamela. Great flicks and pressing but a lack of control.
Moura can hold and create. Lamela can press and do something great in one move, one flick.
Huh?

Lamela lacks ball control?
Moura holds the ball up?

I think you're confused, or not watching and appreciating what they do. Lamela has excellent touch and control, and can hold the ball up, but lacks the pace to run at defenders. Moura is a pacey player, also with good close control and trickery, which allows him to take players on, yet holding the ball up is not in his game down to physicality. They are different types of attacking player.

Lamela started against Man City in order to press high and harry the defensive players into errors. Which after he was switched to the left wing he did effectively, leading to our goal and getting chances himself.

Moura was coming on at 2-1 down to open up the right flank and run at them. It was unfortunate that the 3rd goal occured as he was standing on the touchline waiting to come on. After that the game was dead, and he found loads of space to operate in and cause mayhem.

Its not about who's better then who, its about who's more suitable for tactics employed.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino says Lucas Moura is in contention to start against Huddersfield on Saturday, but he admitted the January signing needs to improve his work-rate off the ball.

Moura has so far started the FA Cup fifth-round matches against Rochdale and made brief cameos from the bench in the Premier League and Champions League, having joined Spurs for £24.5 million on deadline day from Paris Saint-Germain, where he had made just six substitute appearances all season.

Asked if Moura was fit enough to start in the league, Pochettino said: "Yes, of course. He's going to have that possibility from now until the end of the season.

"It's true that he still needs to adapt his quality to the team. We're trying to build his fitness and adapt his characteristics to the team. PSG is a completely different demand, standard and philosophy from here.

"He's capable of everything going forward, he has amazing quality but then he needs to be more involved with the team when we don't have the ball.

"We're helping him. That is about training, understanding the position and being capable of making efforts with and without the ball.
But we're so pleased with how he's adapting himself to the team."

On how Moura is adapting to life in England, the Spurs manager continued: "It's not easy for him to move in the winter window. Everything is new, for him, his family, his little baby.

"Your world changes when you move from Paris to London and then [you need to get] to know your teammates, how the coaching staff thinks, how your manager is, if he jokes with you or is serious with you.

"We try to help him with advice and concepts. The priority is to build his fitness and leave him free to play and able to show his quality."

Lucas looked pretty sharp when he came on.

I think he is the type if player we have been missing in recent years, someone who is willing to take a man on and make something happen

When i think back over the last few seasons there have been occasions when we have played lesser teams that are happy to sit back, park the team bus, and play for the draw. Think Swansea at home earlier this season.

Moura is the type of player who can who can change the game in those scenarios.

I think it was good that they bought him in back in January as it will give him time to learn the environment of the league, and get to know his teammates before completing a full pre-season with the club

I think he will be involved a lot next year, and hope to see him get a start in a PL game before the season ends

I agree. When defences are tight and you draw a man and beat him you create space. Alao Moura has the vision to make that choice or other choices instead of immediate reacting. Its calked sone control.
Its good hitting the first time ball but not all the time.
Id like to see him and Eriksen play together. Eriksen can score well too.

Lamela has a great touch but not great control otherwise he would have played a more dominant role that way.
For the longest time he ran into 2 or 3 players and lost possession. He is great at touches and pressing though.

There was certainly some logic why Lamela started this match and that is because he is the best player we have at disrupting defences, pressing and harrying the opposition.

For what its worth we suffered after he came off as well.

Moura looks very exciting, and I'm very impressed by his decision making so far. I enjoyed his link up with Dier's long diagonal balls. Something to look forward to.

interesting, never seen that quote before.

must be a shock for players like that coming to spurs. I guess it's what might be referred to as a luxury player in the past. someone who is all about the attack. Ronaldhino wouldn't have lasted long

but we don't do that anymore, everyone has to get deep in the mud and sweat. Work hard to regain possession, press and defend, work full pelt for 90 minutes.
Pretty much sums up why lamella plays so much, though I doubt a direct quote from the boss is gonna stop this conversation going round and round in circles like some really annoying temporal causality loop

This is true!!! (re the subject)?
But as far as full pelt 90 minutes
Not every player does it or can do it for 90 minutes and yet make up for it in quality.
How many uber players under 30 mil are there that do everything
Surely a disconnect in costs and the needs.
Moura has enough I think to compensate
