I wonder if Lucas is the one that goes straight in to the first team 'Big time' as JJ put it?

There's isn't a single player in world football we have any chance of signing who now or in the summer would take a starting spot off Son, Dele or Eriksen. What we need is players who keep them on their toes, offer a threat from the bench, and if started due to rotation due to tiredness/injury there isn't much of a drop off in quality.

You either sign a young player such as Maddison or Malcom who may improve and fulfil potential or you aim for players in that tier lower than Son, Dele and Eriksen like Lucas Moura. Either option I'm fine with as it'll straight away be a huge improvement on what we have in squad, which is nothing beyond Lamela.

A loan for Lucas Moura would be smart to see how he does and if performs come summer he'll only have 1 year left on contract and we can get him for good price. I think he's been poorly coached and with a proper coach he could be a good signing. Concern for the here and now though is I'm pretty sure he's not played a single league minute since beginning of Nov so not sure how match fit he is.

I think that depends on his definition of first team. First ream squad? Or first 11? If the latter, i can't see who he would automatically replace.
If i was considering one slot on the team the right player could walk into, it would be the number eight (both literally and figuratively). Don't see that being Moura obviously. When it was first being mentioned, i actually thought it might be Goertzka (or however u spell his name!). But, no hope there, as I'm sure he is Munich bound.
Back to Moura... He definitely gives us a weapon that we are short of in this team... Genuine pace.

He has hardly played this season, cant really see how getting on a 6 month loan would insure a immediate impact, would obviously like to be proven wrong if he did sign. However he cant be anywhere near 'premier league' match fitness.

It should be taken into account that he's been relegated to the bench due to PSG signing two of the world's best players and two who will be the best once Messi is no longer around. So we shouldn't dismiss him as a hand me down if it's true.

But yeah, the potential lack of match fitness is a concern as we are midseason so need him to hit the ground running and I certainly had someone else in mind to what JJ and Hercules were alluding to. That's if this is who they were alluding to.

He's started for them 17 times this season in the league and 6 in the CL. The days of him as a moody and frustrated youngster wanting a move away for first team minutes are long past.

Levy needs to have a word with Rabiot’s mum.

I very much got the sense from JJ's post that he was alluding to the player who would slot straight in being a central midfielder.

He highlighted a number of our attacking players as being first names on the team sheet and specifically identified Dembele, who we would all agree is first-choice material when fit and on form, as a player who could be upgraded.

Maybe I'm just biased because I think CM is the biggest area of need in the squad, but I don't get the feeling that we would have turned our nose up at Lucas when he was offered to us in the summer if he was viewed within the club as a player who would come straight in and displace two of Eriksen, Son and Dele from the starting XI.

I would be shocked if United and Chelsea didn’t move for him. Conte is desperate for attacking reinforcements and United have been interested for years. I think clubs are just leaving it late to make a move as they know PSG are desperate for him to leave - he has only played 70 odd minutes all season

As previously mentioned if it's a loan until the end of the season (and then re-evaluate) it's a no brainer. With league, CL and FAC there are plenty of games to get through. He'd be a useful cover and rotation option for the likes of Son and Eriksen. Lamela staying fit helps but we could do with someone else to lighten the load.

He looks quite good. Decent first touch and pace, willing to take on (and beat) opponents, good movement to create space.

Not being a huge success at PSG isn't the mark of failure. The egos and turn over of players has left a few decent players out in the cold.

He was highly rated when he moved to PSG. It hasn't quite happened for him, I guess, but I'd like to see what Poch can do with him.

Decent player. Obviously talented, but is he willing to fight for his place?
