The thing I love about this proposed Moura deal and judging by what I've read, is that he has a point to prove.

PSG did not see the best out of his undoubted talent, sitting on the bench thinking he should be out there.

No better place for him to do that than at spurs.

This is a forum, let them express an opinion even if it is based on youtube videos. I just hope this signing is based more on the specific skills of the player rather than pochs connection with PSG. As well as the fact we may save a few million dealing with them. We are now at the stage where we need to really nail our established signings like this.

What if he turns out to be as good as Salah...? Wait, that would probably only happen if he signed for someone else in the PL.

PLEASE STOP WITH THE NEG RATES AND KEEP READING TO COMPREHEND THE FULL STATEMENT.

The same people that are underwhelmed by Lucas are probably the same people that were underwhlmed by Salah when we were linked.

He has pedigree. He has ability. That simply can't be questioned.

Surely its obvious that Lucas is taking Sissoko's place?
I wouldn’t say they were like for like though does sissoko play that many games on the right wing? He’s more central where as Lucas with his pace is more a winger and loves to cut inside

Cant believe the fans who dont want Moura but moan about Sissoko every week.

Seriously Moura is a massive upgrade on Sissoko and for me its a no brainer and will be delighted if he signs.

correct me if im wrong but have a feeling alot of you that dont want Moura are the typical english football supporter only watching EPL. And therefore only accept players from EPL due to your ignorance of other leagues.

A bit harsch I know but this is something you almost only see in England.

Precisely why English fans has a bad reputation in Asia.

19 goals and 11 assists and some are saying he's no good?

How many goals and assists would he have to have to say he's actually the best attacker we've signed in donkeys??

(For comparison, Son had 17 goals and 4 assists the season before he came to us).

And he's 25! A proven 25 year-old! Rather than an up-and-coming prospect! This makes me very happy.

Finding a spot in the starting 11 for Lucas when poch plays his wing back system is going to be very difficult.

Son tends to get more minutes and starts when we go to a back 4. With full backs . Be interesting to see what system we go with if Lucas signs and Toby returns to a back 3
It gives us more options, in particular allowing us to play 4-3-3 with two wingers which I always feel is the best way to set up against 3-5-2 if you are not going to match them up.

Were you also unimpressed with Eriksen and Verts who came from the shitty Dutch league?

No, because neither looked one dimensional. I'd also seen both play for their national sides and excel, so...hardly comparable. Also both Ericksen & JV were young with significant potential for improvement, Moura is 25 and probably closer to the finished article.

Moura is rumoured to signing for us, this is a discussion forum, are we not entitled to discuss and debate the merits of said potential signing or is it simply a place to parrot insincere positivity for every player we're linked with?

I do sometimes wonder if there was a signing we could actually make that our fans would be happy with overall. This forum still amazes me at times, I’m pretty sure we could sign Messi and someone would still say “can’t play as a target man though can he”.

Moura is an established player from a top team and still young despite seemingly having been around forever, and people are comparing him to Andros Townsend... Christ on a bike.

My favourites however are those posts that are on the level of “I’ve only ever watched this bloke on YouTube, but I was unimpressed with what I saw in those 4minutes 39 seconds accompanied by acid techno, frankly I think we should give minutes to the youth prospect we have that I’ve never seen play and don’t know how to spell his name. What on earth is wrong with Poch?!”

I hope we get him, he’s an upgrade on players like Sissoko, and he offers pace, something which the same people who post the stuff above always cry out for on a match day thread. Plus, how we find these players for the money we spend on them in today’s market go to show that Poch and Levy do have it in then to find quality without paying the ridiculous fee’s other clubs do.

Far too simplistic to judge a player simply on goals and assists in any case. Team played for, relative strength of opposition, time played, time started v subs, etc etc etc

@lukespurs7 this is pretty much what I meant in regards to the Salah shout, but does no one else feel that if Salah would have signed for Spurs, he wouldn’t have been near as effective? I say that purely based on the luck it seems Spurs have sometime. It’s part of why I am passionate about Spurs, their luck is the story of my life. I mean when Soldado was signed, didn’t we think he was going to be the tits instead of a boob?

Peoples' problem with Townsend was his end product. His contribution, hence, we are right to highlight Moura's contribution, whatever team and league he is playing in.

Two sides of the coin:

If we were signing Cavani who scored something like 35 goals las season, no one would be complaining. His contribution speaks for itself.

Conversely, people may rightly say "But we signed Janssen who finished top scorer in Eredivise and looky how that worked out...."

I'd say it really comes down to how much we've scouted the player's all-round game and what the credentials of those talent scouts are - When it comes to signing attackers, Spurs do have poor form.

I'm all for this signing.

19 goals and 11 assists last season isn’t a bad return to be fair
Just a word of caution about the 19 goals, most of them were tap ins from balls played across the box and at least 2 were pens. Very few were created out of indervidual skill. I’m not saying I’m against him at all, but despite his excellent goal tally last season his finishing isn’t that great. PSG often just walk the ball into the net at times. Obviously being in the right place at the right time is a very good skill, but he doesn’t score the kind of goals Mahrez scores for example, at least not regularly.

Verts was the same age as Lucas when he signed for Spurs.

I've said this plenty of times but Spurs are not unique in terms of signing good players as well as bad players. People go on about situations being 'spursy' but shit does happen at other clubs too. Plenty of other clubs make dodgy signings but we don't take much notice because we don't follow those teams.

I suppose that's a fair point. I feel the same about Sessegnon - a lot of tap ins.

I think my main reason for wanting to sign him is that he can control a football. There's one or two in our squad who can't...
