I've been completely unaware of any comments Lucas may have made about this seemingly unsavoury twerp back in Brazil. Shades of Anelka and that anti-semitic arsehole French 'comedian' when we all (including myself) buried the player under a deluge of loathing and abuse for announcing publicly that he was a friend of his.

These days, with social media the way it is, one word out of context or mis-interpreted can cause a stampede of unwarranted rage and outrage en masse.

I don't know what's been said and what's not been said but 'merely intimated' and frankly I have no interest in whatever his views may be politically. I have far too many more important things to worry about in my life but what I do know, is that he plays for my football club and is a wonderful player full of menace and tight control, and he gives us something we've been lacking for a few years up front and that is serious pace and a real pain in the arse for many big lunky central defenders who hate little quick bastards like him (a la Smalling)

That'll do for me.

@ilikeost I read your disappeared post. Was too slow to quote it. But that was quite a jump! From a nuanced discussion on the vilification of a spurs player based on his nebulous comments, to those defending him throwing in a Nazi salute when he scores..... ! What you drinking on Friday nights?

Yes, because all three million of Lucas's followers are Brazilian, and many of them place themselves politically based off what he says on Twitter.

Someone doesn’t understand what endorsement means...

Not everyone who sees a coca-cola advert has to go out and buy a coke for it to be an advert

Ah so first I don't understand liberalism and now I don't understand what endorsement is.

Fucking hell you act like Lucas was tweeting pictures of himself dressed up as Mussolini whilst holding up a 'Vote Bolsonaro' poster.

Everyone’s acting like he just said he’s a Tory or something and we’re flipping out.

Lucas, through ignorance it seems, has basically endorsed a man who literally thinks men are superior to women, gay people should have been beaten as children, the Brazilian military dictatorship of the 60s didn’t kill enough people and has suggested poor people should be sterilised, to his 3mill odd followers. That’s fucking dangerous. Bolsonaro has even said that there’s “no doubts” that on his first day in office he would create a military dictatorship.

How is pointing out that maybe, just maybe, Lucas shouldn’t have done that or should retract his statement, saying he wasn’t educated enough “virtue signalling”?

Oh look, Lucas shares some opinons I don't agree with. That means he must be an uneducated ignorant twat.

That's how you sound in a lot of your posts in this discussion.

Maybe Lucas just sees as a priority fighting the high criminality rates that have been poisoning Brazil for decades. He probably also knows that just because a candidate may hold homophobic or sexist views, it doesn't mean that brazilian society would allow him to impose such views over them or to pass any ridiculously facist laws. They are not retarded there in Brazil, you know?

No the best case scenario is that Lucas is uneducated and ignorant to endorse that man. The worst case scenario is he is educated on the issues and still agrees with Bolsonaro that daughters are conceived “in a moment of weakness” or that gay people can have their gayness beaten out of them or that the military dictatorship didn’t kill enough people. I really hope tht isn’t the case as if he believes any of those things I’d find it hard to support him, I hope Lucas is just uneducated.

Are you saying a presidents social beliefs have no impact on a country’s social policy? He’s openly said there’s “no doubt” he’ll start a military dictatorship if he becomes president. If people don’t want these things don’t vote for them, if they do you can only assume they aren’t too opposed to them.

I’m not though?

I’ve literally said I’m guessing he’s just ignorant to Bolsonaros views and has unintentionally endorsed him, but appreciate the hyperbole.

Maybe we should just let only Brazilians vote in the next English elections - seeing as how their issues must be identical to English issues.

Tottenham forward Lucas Moura has said the club should have ended their 10-year trophy drought by now -- but insists everything is in place for them to finally win.

"Winning a trophy is missing," Moura, 26, told ESPN Brazil. "Because the infrastructure and the players are there. We should have a trophy for the fans.

"It is my objective this season and I really believe in this. When I first came here, before signing, I was blown away -- I was presented and then we were brilliant for 90 minutes in the 2-0 victory over Manchester United.

"The team was great again this season to win 3-0 and all of this makes me believe more in the team and we should believe we can win a trophy."

Saturday's clash with Liverpool was supposed to be the unveiling of the new White Hart Lane, but this has now since been delayed.

"We're not disappointed, but we are anxious to get to know the stadium," Moura said. "From what we've seen in the pictures, it will be very modern and big.

"But it won't interfere with our preparation for the Liverpool game, nor our mentality or focus. We have adapted to Wembley, the fans back the team there and it has become our home.

"Everything is in place for us to have a great game against Liverpool."

Rather a Tory than a bunch of anti-semitic swivel eyed loonies from the far left of hell, but that's another discussion for another thread.

You clearly don't understand what hyperbole means.
