That play when lloris rolled it out to him with a Brighton player up his arse on the edge of our box.. what skill to get away

I haven't seen any of the game tonight, but you are describing something I see Dembele do every single game he plays. He's incredible. He really is. (Also sounds like a hospital pass from Lloris which wouldn't be new )

Even when I see he has got a poor match rating by the majority on here I often think he was great. Bad team performances make his role incredibly difficult though. His role bears the fulcrum of the pressure put on us when the opposition are playing well.

It's awful to think of him not being a spurs player next season. It makes sense though that he wants a final high pay to setup his new life after football. Finding a suitable replacement will require a lot of luck and money. Surely its cheaper to find a way to extend the contract and pay him very well for next season. We must accept the bloody market rates sooner or later

I also remember a play where he dribbled into 3 Brighton players and lost the ball. I love Dembele and know how important he is but getting an alternative to him is very important to next season.

hertyid: Dembele has been stalling on a new deal for months. He wants a big deal before he retires because he doesn't really care much for football. He's not going to hang around when he retires, he'll move away from the game. China will be there in a year though, I reckon he'll stay and see if he can win the league with us in the next two years, then move on.

Honestly if I hear you don’t care for the game then I would cut you from my team immediately. I know this isn’t directly from the horses mouth, but I would much rather have a Mason who would give it all to play again verse a player who has it all, but could essentially give it all up with no issue.

It’s stuff like this that really sours my opinion on some players. If you don’t like the game then retire. How are positive he actually cares about the results at the end of the day? Because he tears a Brazilians eye out? He does seem to put it all out there, but now that I have heard that I would definitely be on the market for a replacement that wants to be here.

But this time it was right on the edge of our box

Honestly what a load of horse shit. Dembele has always given his all for the club, and many times played with injuries, or when he's not right. Just because someone has other interests, and doesn't want to stay in the game when he retires, it doesn't mean he doesn't give it his all. If he didn't Pochettino would have never built the midfield around him.

tbh, a move to China wouldn't be that much of a surprise.

Injuries might well be curtailing his longevity, so a bumper salary in a less intense league could appeal. Also, his Belgian teammate Witsel is there, making 16m Euro a year.

Would be a shame but he has to do what is right for him, and if he feels or knows that his body won't manage much longer in the Premier League then he has to look out for himself.

I agree, he does put it all out there and hasn't displayed a piss poor attitude and I am probably taking the ITK out of context, which I will own up to. I also agree, when you are done with your profession you most likely are not going to continue working in that realm post retirement. The majority of us don't/won't.

My point was that, as a coach, if I get word that you don't enjoy the game or that you could take it or leave it, then I would question your commitment to the collective goals of the organization. I go through this same thing with my employees and players that I coach.

Dembele hasn't shown any of those qualities on the pitch and so my original post was off the mark and more directed at him. Should have been more general in my criticism, which for me is very valid.

Will be irreplaceable. Struggle to see how we could be a better team without him. Perhaps Wanyama will step up next year.

Lost the ball all day and at fault for both goals (turning into Pogba and not staying with Herrera).

Worst performance I’ve seen from the moose.

Time to spunk big on a cm.

I think it is time for him to move on. Has been great for us but he doesn't give us enough.
