He's not vital to the team anymore, or wouldn't be if we managed to build out the need to have him playing on good form.

Can't really blame him for thinking about his retirement funding. Maybe it's not bad timing to switch things up a bit at CM anyway. Definitely think we've been needing a fresh CM specialist whether Dembele stays or goes, just a shame it didn't happen last summer for a bit of an overlap.

Even if he stayed we needed a top class CM to replace his place in first team. If he goes we need two CMs. In a window that closes 3 weeks earlier than usual and it being World Cup year that's an extremely difficult task. In a ideal world you'd bring in a young CM like Haidara with upside in terms of value and a more experienced for the now signing. Love Winks but I think it would be risky only signing one with his injury issues this year, plus if we only sign one it'll mean Sissoko has to stay as an insurance player.

If this is the case and if Poch agrees with that, then selling Dembele should not impact us. In any case, we need top class cm that will combine on the pich with Vic/Dier.

And then it's just about who is 2nd/3rd CM option.. we'd be left with Sissoko, Winks and Onomah (+hmm, what about Dele?). Then Poch to reasses them and then to react. I think it would also be possible to wait for Jan window about it.

I like the fact that, according to the Trix Itk, the club are going to try and help him.find What he wants contract and club wise. Given his service to the cause.

Club is desperate for a progressive ball playing cm player in Moussa's place though, as discussed all over the site. He was very limited in that aspect anyway... I always thought dembele would have been more impactful in the AM areas. Butvwhat do I know. His replacement is key to unlocking spurs higher attacking potential though.

Will be gutted to see him go as he's my favourite player to watch, but I think it's probably time. Just make sure it's outside of the Premier League.

Great man, great servant. Played through the pain barrier for the club many times & was once a pivotal factor for us in terms of whether or not we would compete in big games as he offered such a platform to build off.

Sadly those days are becoming less frequent, and if an amicable agreement can be reached we should try to work something out with him if he wants to go. Can understand the club being unwilling to offer a 3 year deal if they feel he won't be of much use by the end of those 3 seasons.

With a full pre-season I hope Wanyama can get back to 2016-17 form. If that happens we have a lot of power/beast replaced from the loss of Dembele already. Would like to see a new CM bought in to partner him, a different type of player to Dembele, a quick incisive passer with more mobility. Winks/Onomah to alternate with said new CM. We forget how good Winks was looking pre injury.

I will be heart broken when The Moose leaves, one of my favourite all time players and seeing him bully opponents is one of my favourite things in football

As for a replacement, where do you even start to replace what Mousa brings to the table? Loftus-Cheek has been very impressive this season and physically comparable, but even Chelsea wouldn’t be stupid enough to sell him to us and Poch

I don’t dislike Andre Gomes as a player, but I wonder about his mentality, his experience at Barca seems to have really affected him

Incredible reading comments about him moving on by some fans after one bad game - a couple of months ago no doubt the same guys were fapping over him when he was dominating in the league and CL - we have some fickle / awful fans

Dembele is quality - had an off day vs Utd but offers a huge amount still

I'm not fickle, I've never rated him.

I love Dembele but for me what he has brought to the table is immense physicality.

Him and Wanyama dominated the midfield battle against everyone.

But once he starts to decline he cannot rely on his football ability to maintain his level.

Sadly I think his time in the prem is coming to an end.

Uhm..... Given we just started Sissoko in the middle in a must win game. We should probably just pay him?

Why, if he can’t physically play more than 50% of our games per season, and even if he manages he’s got another year or two left in him at best before he’s beyond repair?

Makes no logical or business sense.

Because. We just played Sissoko in a must win game in the middle of the park. Who cost 30 million.
