He's nowhere near consistent enough, I'd love to see his assists and goals return. The odd great game aside it's all pretty turns and fluff and has been for quite some time. I've never understood the love in that SC has for him and thought I must be missing something but I'm not sure I am really, not of any substance anyway.

He always draws opponents in to try to dispossess him. They know that 1 one won't be enough, so more often than not 2 players are after him. That creates the pockets of space that Eriksen, Lamela, Son, Dele etc. can use. We'll certainly miss him when he goes and may well have to adopt a totally different style of play.

A proper top class midfielder scores and makes goals. Unfortunately Dembele does neither. I think he has 7 goals in about 6 years. Assists would be around nil I would think

Dembele - 170 apps + 41 as sub = 7 goals, 7 assists.....that's PL games only I think but it's enough. Or not enough depending on wether or not you're watching the right sport.

Lamela has 8 premier league goals over 5 seasons and a 102 games. None of those figures are any thing to get excited about why prolong the agony.

So, lets say "knee jerkers central, if you don't know what Lamela brings to the table, you're watching the wrong sport"

I have made comments like this and have had to clarify for he masses. I believe I know what he brings, but I also think we can improve our midfield and that doesn’t include having Dembele in it.

I work in change management...change can be good folks. In this case it is needed. We can talk about his ability to dance and dominate his opponent physically all day, but when it comes to moving the ball, picking his head up, finding passes, releasing the ball in a timely manner, we can definitely improve and dun, dun, dun, our game will change.

No, I'm comparing stats you said weren't good enough for one player but don't even mention for another. I would expect you to get it, after all, you know what sport you're watching.

Honestly if I hear you don’t care for the game then I would cut you from my team immediately. I know this isn’t directly from the horses mouth, but I would much rather have a Mason who would give it all to play again verse a player who has it all, but could essentially give it all up with no issue.

It’s stuff like this that really sours my opinion on some players. If you don’t like the game then retire. How are positive he actually cares about the results at the end of the day? Because he tears a Brazilians eye out? He does seem to put it all out there, but now that I have heard that I would definitely be on the market for a replacement that wants to be here.

I guess it depends on how much emphasis you put on stats? I think the main reason the other players rate Dembele is because he makes a lot of there jobs easier. You can generally dump the ball into him if you or him are under pressure and he will normally look after it, not panic and give hospital balls like a lot of other players would. Players aren’t stupid they clearly appreciate what he brings to the table.

Personally I’ve always been a fan he’s a player that can play a big part in really dominating a team. There has obviously been games where he’s played and we haven’t played well but that can be said of all of them and I also think even though we’re more than capable of winning without him we are more likely to cough up more ball and have less of a stranglehold on games.

We could go out in the summer and buy a couple of midfielders with good assist and goal records. Would that automatically make us better? I doubt it.

Again I respect your opinion, but for me he doesn’t walk into any of those squads. Maybe a couple years back at City and Pool, but I don’t think he fits the current managers tactics. He isn’t a defensive great. He isn’t a quick thinker with the ball at his feet. He isn’t spraying the ball around like KDB, Thiago, Basquets. He slaloms past people and does some amazing work at getting us out of tight spots, but those moments are fleeting and yes, the future is not his.
