Why are people always bringing up his cost when talking about him. First of all, it`s not his fault we paid what we paid. Second of all, it`s not your money, it`s the clubs. Just support the man ffs
I see what you're saying... that bloody sisokko thinks he owns the pitch!Thought he looked good and positive when he came on against Burnley and followed it up well yesterday.
I feel he gets singled out for errors because people are looking for it. They miss Kane missing 3 un-obstructed shots on goal, Dele kicking air, Eriksen passing to an opposition player but there they are, making a mental note of every thing Sissoko does wrong. Whilst not paying attention to any good he does.
It's a bit like noticing that one BMW that didn't indicate whilst being oblivious to the 27 that did and the 34 Mondeo's that didn't.

Seriously? You don't understand why people expect more from an experienced £30m international compared to a cheap stopgap signing or young up and comer new to the country?
I'm all for supporting players but to be blind as to why some players are given more time or leeway is perplexing.
I think the inclusion of a central midfield shuttler yesterday was an absolute revelation. I watched the match again this morning and was struck by how disruptive Sissoko's running of the channels was to Everton. It caused chaos over and over and over again, he got into so many good positions only to waste the opportunities it was unbelievable.
While I'm skeptical that Sissoko himself will ever come good (his touch and footballing intelligence are absolutely woeful, how fucking difficult is it to stay on side when you're looking directly across the back line), I'm convinced after re-watching the match that the role he played yesterday is the direction Poch will take the side moving forward, at least against teams that sit back against us. Dembele is a beast who almost always dominates the central midfield battle but his languid style and preference for horizontal dribbling and passing slows down our play and allows opposing defenses to get back in position, stymieing our attack. Having a player aggressively making vertical runs drags defenders all over the place and opens up all kinds of space for the likes of Eriksen, Alli, Kane and the wingbacks.
If by some miracle Poch is able to coax a bit of composure out of Sissoko he could be absolutely deadly. It's more likely IMO that we'll see another player with better end product step into that role and absolutely flourish. It seems ready-made for Ross Barkley, who is adept at taking defenders on and driving forward vertically, but who also has the quality to make the opportunities count. It's a really exciting development IMO.

Exactly! I'm not going to lie, I didn't want us to sign Sissoko but I'm going to support him as long as he plays for us. We should all want him to do well for us. If he has a good season with us and then carries his good form into the WC, we can always move him along to another club and recoup some of what we paid.
So in that case, people need to alter their expectations of him, if people think he should be playing like a £30m player (or whatever one of those are) then you're going to be disappointed...At the end of the day he cost £30m as he was a panic signing that doesn't mean he should be judged on his price tag alone, we should be at least assessing him on his contributions to the team.
I just don't think you can completely dissacociate a player from his wirth or other factors.
We bought Ryan Nelson on a cut price deal and short term so it was expected for him to be a squad player.
When we buy from abroad we generally accept a certain bedding in period.
We bought Sissoko in his prime, for a high fee after he'd had several seaosns in the Prem. While I don't judge him completely on his transfer fee you expect a more immediate impact than a signing from abroad like Sanchez.
Within reason yes...but you need to take context into account. Sissoko was priced at that fee based on the fact that we needed something that was desperately lacking in the team (which Pochettino alluded to after the Liverpool match) and due to the fact that there was a bidding war for him on deadline day, that's even before you take into account his performance at the Euro's...therefore his value was always going to be high.
He wasn't purchased because he showed unreal ability with Newcastle, he wasn't purchased because he was coming off the back off an excellent season either so why is there need to expect more from a player who we all know what's his strengths and weaknesses are?
When bought Dele Alli for £5M from League 1, you don't hear people excusing him when he has a bad game based on the fact that we bought him for peanuts so why can't you apply the same rules as far as Sissoko is concerned?
Alli is a different kettle of fish. If he'd put in some OK performances he'd have been excused due to his age and move up in leagues. Once he became one of the hottest young talents in worldfootball expectations went up.
Alli does put in some average performances and makes some bad errors but people ignore this as he is young and still learning.
Sissoko is no longer learning. He is settled in the league and in his prime. People naturally expect more from experienced players and Sissoko does get more criticism than Alli so your last paragrpah is misplaced.
