He's tried hard this season but he just does not have the quality to even be a squad player at a top 4 club.

I actually haven't minded him too much this season but the fact that he's losing value quickly due to his age and that he's holding Moura back from getting minutes, I think it's time to go this summer.

Got a nosebleed once again when he was in with a chance of scoring. I'll never understand how 1) he is a regular international for France 2) we paid or will pay 30 million for him 3) he has been able to make a very good living at the highest level in football.

Going against the grain here but I still respect his contribution and like having him around the squad. He's capable of being a cog in a good machine, his performance away at Real being a good example or away at Swansea in the cup more recently where I thought he was exceptional.

In what will be a very physical battle on Saturday he will again be used I suspect.

At best, he is a body in midfield, by bloody hell if we are giving a place on the subs bench purely because he allows us to change our formation, not because the quality of the play...

First pass went astray
First tackle was a foul
First shot he skied

When we have the likes of Lamela and Moura day on the bench, watching him come on instead, they must wonder if they actually have a future at the club (or football in general)

I’m going against the grain here. I was actually pleasantly surprised when his strike went over the bar instead of out for a throw in. At no point when he was through on goal did it enter my mind that he’d score. Genuinely didn’t even flinch.

His efforts are appreciated but unfortunately he’s just not good enough to take us forward. I hope he finds a new club in the summer. He’d be perfect for a team like Everton or Burnley.

You are doing Burnley a disservice.

he's versatile, which is why he's almost always on the bench. He can play attacking mid or sit deeper, something nobody else on the bench can do. Plus Winks is out.

Except he can't really do either of those things. Sure Pochettino puts him in those positions but he's not good at either of them. I truly cannot imagine Lamela would be worse at CM than Sissoko.

I can, Lamela doesnt defend and why would you ask him to?

Lamela works his rear end off when on the field constantly making tackles and pressing defenders. Heck I bet more people around here love Lamela for his defensive contributions over his offensive ones at this point. Sissoko is big and fast, that doesn't make him good at defense.

Lamela gets a lot of yellow cards if thats what you mean. He's not a CM, he's not going to sit back in the middle and do the dirty work and it would be a waste of his talents to ask him. Sherwood tried it with Chadli. I get that you dont like Sissoko but he's a proper CM and one of only four we have healthy.

Was there any ITK of why we got Sissoko instead of Wijnaldum from Newcastle that summer?
