An expected sort of performance from him tonight. Played safe and anything he tried slightly unsafe didn’t come off. But he grafted and so you can’t fault his effort. It’s the one thing, well, the main thing I genuinely don’t understand about Poch and in my personal opinion, when he plays and we win, we do it despite him. But Poch loves him and Poch tends to know best so we’ll see.....

He must train so well and never cause a fuss, which is probably the main reason behind these comments. Fair play but hope he’s sold to make room for a midfield maestro.

Wondered why on earth we bought him at the time. Wanted him to succeed. Unfortunately he is not and will never be good enough.

I bear the guy no ill will, you can't fault his effort, or attitude and he's played well a few times. Some of the stick he gets is very harsh because of the aforementioned points.

But I just think it's better for everyone if we go our separate ways - there are times (for France especially) when he's shown he has something to offer, but he's not what we need and I think he'd do better elsewhere

The abuse that Sissoko gets is bang out of order IMO. I don't really care whether fans rate a player or not, I mean I don't particularly rate his footballing ability but he has still done a decent job at times.

The obvious reality is that he isn't the level of player we need to have in this squad if we want to win trophies and challenge for league titles. That's not his fault though and he shouldn't be ripped for it.

We need to be upgrading our squad so that rotation options can fit more seamlessly when they come in to the starting 11, allowing us to maintain the same play style that has us playing our best football.

That said, I'll still be surprised if Sissoko leaves this summer.

When you look at stats from last night. Total passes.
Sissoko 47
Wanyama 45

Dier/dembele are normally around 80. It’s a massive drop off. Poch obviously trusts him I think he will still be here next season. I guess every squad has one. United-felani etc.

So to summarise, Sissoko hasn’t got much technical ability, isn’t a great footballer and isn’t good enough for us but please please don’t mention those things and criticise him.

Less horrible than trippier, davies and alli to name a few!

It bugs me when people just want to complain about what he does but then ?another player does exactly the same thing and nothing! Yes hes a not the best (and maybe not that good at all) and yes he cost £30m but he plays for spurs and we should be supporting him! Plus the manager picks him

I thot tripper had a decent game. always trying to get forward. Same for Davies. I felt the plan was to get them high up since we were pretty defensive with Sissoko and Wanyama. Alli was trying. Yeah his flicks and tricks didn't do much since newcastle packed the defense.

I am supporting him, but it doesn't mean I don't have an option on his performance. Especially in the first half when he would run forward and pass back or to the side. Which was so frustrating at times.
Think the point of this thread, is to discuss a player. I am not asking u not to support someone. But the point of a forum is OPEN DISCUSSION.

Bad feeling (again) that he’ll be with us again next season. Poch might be highlighting his professionalism though as the player could be unsettled but has knuckled down and been a good pro. Although I don’t think that’s ever been in doubt, just his ability relative to his peers.

Hhmm.....did I say don't criticise him though?

I said the "abuse" he gets is bang out of order, but hey, maybe you're someone that things critical feedback needs to come in the form of calling a player a fucking useless c*** and get the fuck out of my club....etc etc. Maybe that's your thing, I dunno.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that he's a limited footballer but it does take a small minded individual to abuse him because he doesn't match up to the standards that you set.

Just saying.

Fair enough, and I would never say it’s ok to give him abuse at a ground but if someone says he’s a useless **** on here is that really a big deal. I mean, tbf, he is pretty useless.

I guess people have different opinions on what constitutes abuse.

Sissoko has made a net positive contribution to our successful season reaching the top 4. To put that another way, it's better that we had him than if we didn't have him. To put it yet another way, maybe if we didn't have him, we wouldn't have made it, given the incredibly tight margins between 3rd, 4th & 5th. That margin may have come down to his block in the 6 yard box in the 2nd half last night. That might have been the whole ball game right there, and Sissoko was in the right place at the right time.

It's cool, I appreciate you may not be someone that would hurl abuse at him and I wasn't necessarily speaking about this site, I was talking about abuse he gets in general. Sissoko himself is on social media and I dread to think the amount of shit that has been hurled at him by the fans of the club he plays for. I just can't abide that kinda thing.

It's fine to not rate a player or even think he's a bit rubbish but to go after him either by shouting abuse at the game or on social media, to me it's all the same. It's disgusting behaviour and I've got no time for it. If I've got nothing good to say to him then I won't say anything at all. I believe he's doing his best. If that ends up not being good enough for us long term then I won't be surprised but I won't be taking the piss out of him in the meantime.

100% with you on the twitter/social media shit where people directly send abusive shit. Literally hate that. It especially did my nut when fans did it to actual spurs fans like Mason and Townsend but it’s pretty stupid doing it to any of our players.

Don’t know where you are getting the idea that Dembele and Dier pass around 80 a game. We are no where near a Barca team In consistently working the ball around the pitch.

On mobile so can’t get the best screen shot, but the comparison of Dier, Dembele and Wanyama is attached. Have Wanyama his 2016-2017 stats since he has played so little this year.

Dier is at 66 a game on average.
Dembele is at 50
Wanyama was at 54

I don’t think anyone argues that Dier loves passing the ball. Dude thinks he is Pirlo. But is he suited to be that player the rest of his career? For some reason I think Poch thinks he is, but for me we need a major upgrade in the CM positions.

he was awful last night but no worse than Wanyama. Neither would take any responsibility and hid from the ball. They were the last two CMs Poch is comfortable with still standing. In retrospect I would have dropped Dele into the role and started Lucas or Lamela but fuck it, we won.

The difference is you could see Waynama thigh bandaged up and was probably hampering him as normally he’s more all action than he was yesterday.

Thr thing that summed it up for me was when he performed a long raking pass out to the left wing for Son and it sailed over Sons head and out for a throw. You can't buy those tekkers.

Dont disagree and as you say its an open discussion but people are not objective..Eriksen passes back...Wanyama passes back and sideways but knowone groans at them..Thats our game plan we keep the ball and move it through the players.

Trippier IMO wasnt decent...Can you explain how a right wing back can be offside twice ?? Is he not looking accross the line ? Basic error
