I'm not going to lie - I like the bloke. Evidence suggests that Poch does too and I would go so far as to say I would be surprised if we sell him this summer.

Yeah, every time I read an interview he sounds like he really wants to do well with us. Can't fault or dislike a player who despite heavy criticism still wants to play and give his all.

Sissoko has never hidden his difficulties in his debut season -- but he feels the last one was better. And, regardless of what his critics say, he feels valued by the people whose opinions matter to him most.

"The staff are always happy with me so I'll try to keep going," he said during Spurs' tour of the U.S. "My first season here wasn't easy. I came late, I didn't have preseason. It wasn't easy and it was a new challenge for me.

"But last year I played a lot of games and I did well, like the team. This year is going to be the same. I will try to play more and I will try to do better and better.

"My ambitions are the same as always -- to try to improve, to help the team finish higher up the league, to go far in the Champions League and try to perform."

I can if he's rubbish.
I was going to rate your post disagree as I disagree that Sissoko is rubbish. However, I can't disagree with the fact that you are allowed to dislike someone. So I didn't rate your post but wrote this response instead.

In other news, that whole rating conundrum reminded me of this Martin Jol classic:

BMJ: Can I call you an idiot?
Referee: No.
BMJ: Can I think you're an idiot?
Referee: You can think what you like.
BMJ: Then I think you're an idiot.

This post was brought to you by a combination of the heat and Devonshire cider.

As much as I would like to see better, due to our lack of transfer activity and question marks over Wanyama's fitness he's looking like a player we actually can't really afford to lose right now. Didn't think we'd be in a position where I'd be saying to myself that we can't afford to lose Sissoko, I must admit.

I can't say I was enthralled when we sign him even less so at the reported fee, however if he could find that CM version of himself that appeared at the euros on a weekly bases I'd be much happier.

However what really has annoyed me is that there was a photo of him and Aurier together for first day of pre-season tweeted by the clubs official feed, the abuse and disgusting comments that it got by so called Spurs fans was disgusting IMHO.

They may have fucked up on occasion last season or they may have limitations as footballers but I can't abide warrantless slagging off for past events, heat of the moment okay I get it but it was last season it's done. I'll take someone trying their best for the team over someone shirking, hiding or turning their back in a wall any day of the week.

Try backing them you never know it might help.

He didn't play in CM at the Euros.

It's such a load of hot air that story. In terms of actual time on the pitch, Sissoko was 13th in the league last season. Hardly suggests he's Poch's "go to guy" does it. More like his go to after thought.

That headline should read "Poch refuses to slag off guy who can't get a sniff when proper players are fit, that he persuaded Levy to spend £50m in fee and wages on"

Jesus H Corbett! He sure as hell wasn't playing as a winger!

Why aren't you a PL manager seeing as you're obviously some sort of an expert.

Entertaining any discussion with you is like arguing about the bollocks on a slug... pointless!

Fucking hell, don't cry.

He played as WRF in the 433 and as a ARM in the 4231.

Just realized that there isn't a dedicated thread to Sissoko. It is looking increasingly likely that he will not be sold this window and I'm awfully okay with that. As he rarely gets injured, the chances that we'll see him feature more this season are high, given that every CM on our roster is struggling with a knock/injury. I do think this 433 formation that Poch is trying out will suit Sissoko and could potentially get the best of him. Something like

Llorente/Kane
Moura/ Son ------------------- Lamela
Eriksen------- Sissoko/Dele
Dier/Wanyama
Davies----Verts ---- Sanchez ---- Aurier

I'm not his biggest fan but he never causes issues, is always willing to help the team and seems to be a liked to rest of the team/staff. Hope we get behind him and hopefully see some better performances and goals from him.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Hope he recovers quickly from any injury he has sustained against Barcelona today. Especially hope that he's fit for at least a couple of days before the 9th of August.

Whether Sissoko stays or not depends on how the transfer window pans out, and how Poch will position players in his formation this season (possibly Erisken dropping into CM).

If we sign Zaha, Grealish and a new CM, we'd be in a position where we'd have lots of attacking players (Kane, Lamela, Eriksen, Alli, Zaha, Grealish, Son, Moura) and also lots of options at CM, especially if Dembele is staying as the ITKs have said (Dembele, Victor, Winks, Dier, New CM, Eriksen, Grealish). So basically, no room for Sissoko.

That said, it may be that instead of a new CM, a central defender is signed, which may mean that Poch keeps Sissoko as back up.

I also think it wouldn't actually be that hard to shift Sissoko at short notice, because he'd certainly do a job for a number of PL clubs and is a model professional in the way he's conducted himself during his time at Spurs.
