Worth remembering that Sissoko was a net positive last season too, after an atrocious start. Did some vital chasing and destroying in crunch games during the run-in. One of those games was against Newcastle as I recall when he got a couple of vital blocks, including one that saved a goal.

Anyway, after Kane and Eriksen, he may currently be the 3rd name on the teamsheet, which is fucking bonkers.

With regards to the booing, even though I disagree with it, it's hard to judge the Newcastle supporters when some of our fans still hold a grudge and sing a pathetic chant about Sol Campbell, who retired nearly 10 years ago.

Frenchman leaves you after three years for a team on the other side of a country for a profit of £28.5m, after you've been relegated.
Homegrown captain who has been with you since the age of 15 leaves you on a free for your biggest rivals, who reside an entire mile away from you, after insisting that is one thing he would never do, a year after you have turned down a record fee for an English player from Manchester United because he states that he would stay.

Yup, completely the same thing.

I don't condone the chanting, but the deep set resentment will never disappear, nor should it, what Campbell did to Spurs is the worst transfer/ contract related action any player has ever performed in pretty much every aspect, there is no redemption for this and to compare what he did to Sissoko joining us from Newcastle in any way is either a deliberate attempt to be controversial or an inexplicable lack of understanding of the hurt caused.

I was gutted he didn’t score that chance yesterday. For 4 months I’ve put a couple of quid on every game he starts, that he’ll score first. If he’d have stepped up to it, the fucker could have paid for my holiday this year, but in Sissoko I trust!!

I may get a price for him scoring the first at NWHL.

I'd add a further explanation for the comparison. Either it was a deliberate attempt to be controversial, an inexplicable lack of understanding of the hurt caused, OR because I'm a grown man who doesn't give a shit anymore because nearly 20 years have passed and it's a game.

Sorry if it hurt you that much but I just don't give a toss. So yeah, I can compare the two situations because all I see is two players who left their clubs, one a hell of a lot more recently than the other, and a section of fans who need to get over it and spend more time and effort supporting their current players.

You do you mr grown man. Glad it's just a game for you. (y)

Also, not sure when holding a rival in disdain and showing support and love towards your own players became mutually exclusive but hey ho.

Fans boo former players, hardly a new concept.

imho... if the player forces himself out of the club, or refused to play. then fine... boo all u want.

that is why i am a tad surprised.

he wasn't a fan favorite. I think we paid a fair amount (or even overpaid). i don't remember him asking to leave but i guess he might have requested to join another top club instead of playing in the 2nd tier.

strange one. they were happy to let him go. even going so far as to say it was an awesome deal to get 30M for him.

I know him playing ridiculously good is now the norm but still deserves to be said

Such powerful runs and work ethic. He is also dribbling past players with ease

Never seen a tranformation like it. What a player he is becoming for us. His strength and speed is fun to watch. Mops up well and keeps it simple in possession. He's now starting to dribble past players in midfield too. Just needs to add a bit of final third quality.

Insane to see a player that seemed so bad for so long now bossing all kinds of opposition, including the Bundesliga leaders in the CL tonight. It's a joy to behold.

Huge props to Moussa and the coaching team. Staggering really.

I really like to read Bus Conductor's insightful analysis on Sissoko's performance against Dortmund.

I remember laughing at Poch saying that Sissoko was one of his most important players as he's the only one capable of effectively transitioning play from defense to attack.

I'm an idiot and Poch is a genius.

I remember when I used to absolutely hate seeing his name anywhere on a teamsheet

What the fuck has happened to him?

It's incredible
