I never expected finesse from him, but I think it's fair to expect the basics of a decent footballer; technique, touch, a bit of composure...

Confidence can do wonders, but even that has it's limits and I think it may have met it's match with Sissoko ;)

I disagree with your assesment of his performance for Spurs. He has not been great but to imply he has been useless is simply a pile of shite.

Ok. He hasn't been dreadful, and yes, he does have a couple of assists.

But this chap gets paid probably in the region of £3-4m per year. Football is supposed to be what he's good at, and today (and many other times) he has shown very little.

Edit: Actually, he HAS been dreadful. Verging on completely abysmal at times. Getting towards troll status at others.

Seemed to play without a smile - face seemed very stressed even when celebrating with teammates. Perhaps lacking in confidence and needs to get this sorted as it's limiting his positive attributes and accentuating his weaknesses including a poor first touch.

I'm all for giving players time to settle but sissoko is not new to the speed of the league. At 27 he should be hitting his prime, and yet he looks so weak in certain areas of his game. Zaha would be a huge upgrade on Sissoko IMO.
Onomah has been poor at RM and it's not his position but i'd sooner Poch use him there over Sissoko. I lost a lot of patience with him after yesterday. He's hustle and bustle but lacks the finesse and composure required.

Might as well give him some experience.

He's been very frustrating to watch. We do need to remember though that he hasn't really had a proper run in the team so hasn't settled into any particular role in the side. We don't really know what he's being told to do, or what plan Pochettino has for him. He's always going to struggle for consistency when he's not playing regularly and when he's moving around positions in the team.

I'm not sure what his best role is, or even if he fits into the team, but clearly Poch saw fit to spend £30m on him. He's clearly got the physical attributes that Poch likes, if not the technique that we as fans would like to see. Maybe we should just give the guy another season to settle in and find his place in the team, he could prove to be a useful asset, It's got to be better than selling him on for a loss right?

Our one hope with Sissoko at this point is not that he comes good but that we didnt actually spend anywhere near the £30m quoted

I all for giving people a chance, usually you give it to them if you see that they have a few positive qualities in their game. However Sissoko doesn't really have anything other than his strength. He can't control a ball, pass, shoot, cross; he doesn't have footballing intelligence and often makes the wrong decisions. Also he's not even quick too, and is far from agile. If there was something we could work with, I would say give him another chance, but he has no redeemable qualities.

Onomah when played has looked out of his depth, so don't see him as an upgrade to Sissoko however bad Sissoko has been.

It's a shame as when he joined I was genuinely excited about the competition he would bring to our right-side but I think we should look to move on really.

Looking at our current 3-4-2-1 he's not really needed in squad either as with Lamela coming back next season we have three top players for attacking two positions and in engine room we have Dembele, Winks, Wanyama and also Dier who can move up. Onomah is also rated by a lot in the know of our youth set-up to be better in the depersonalisation position and at a push you could move Alli back there in an absolute emergency.

Any money we could recoup could then go towards maybe another Son-type player who can play either attacking midfield or cover up top giving us further options to Kane and Janssen (who should be given another season at least).

He looks like deer caught in the headlights

Total lack of confidence and very scare to try stuff. Sticking to the basics

You could see it in his passes. He always opt for the safe short passes. 1 time he tried to cross he hits the defender standing in front of him

The 6 highest transfers in our history

Lamela
Soldado
Sissoko
Son
Janssen
Paulinho

Probably £150 m in total and let's just say in the nicest possible way none of them would be close to being in a " best ever " Spurs line up.
