Im sorry to say this is absolute rubbish. Groans when he touched the ball (after 30 seconds when naff all has happened), moans when he was subbed on, laughing and jokey cheering when he was subbed off. He wasn't at his best ( pretty poor some weeks) but he was regularly better than some much loved team mates, who got zero slack.

Last season was far from supportive at Wembley for Moussa.

Yeah, that's not true, is it?

I’m really pleased with the improvement in his performances but I honestly still don’t think he’s been outstanding or anything.

It’s like when a really really fat person loses a bit of weight, you really notice at first but they’re still fat.

Sissoko was so appallingly bad (bar 1 or 2 ok performances) that you notice any kind of improvement. Like, shit he can actually control a pass now.

Again, he’s been much better recently and if he can maintain this level I’ll be happy to keep him around I suppose but he’s still a very average football player IMHO

I'm happy for Sissoko's recall to the national team but apprehensive it'll coincide with the recall of @zoneD to these here boards. :nailbiting:

Some big time revisionist history going on in this thread. Sure he's been much better as of late, but to act like he hasn't been bad the past 2 seasons is a huge stretch.

not really. nobody ever said he was one of our better players - just he had a role to play. contrast that to those who said he's "shit" and "will never be good enough". I feel like the first group has less egg on their faces.

Its all great us saying he is this and he was that. No matter what.... when a player puts on that shirt we should always be behind them.
Remember we are Tottenham Hotspur supporters, not a supporter of a certain player in the team.

Just to round it off, he is playing better. :)

Funny how you see it with Sissoko but when Eriksen plays bad there's always an excuse.

Classic stuff.

'Ok yeah he's doing alright now but he's still pretty shit' I mean If you were really really really shit and you play a bit better you are just really shit now, Praise indeed

For the record as far as I'm concerned he's been a good squad player for us ever since he joined and has always done a decent job for his team, manager and supporters whenever called upon

Obviously he's not Glenn Hoddle or Diego fucking Maradona but that's not his fault but I'd rather have him in the side trying and putting in a shift rather than the countless more talented players I've watched in a Spurs shirt taking the piss out of us and just picking up his wages each week

I hope he signs a new contract. What a player to have in our squad.

Honestly I wouldnt be opposed to that, IF he kept up a similar vein of form for the rest of the season. And this is coming from a big critic.

But lets not forget the form he's showing now has been nothing like his showings previously. He certainly deserves praise though.

Don't think anyone is saying otherwise mate. He was way below par performance wise for the vast majority of his time here up until the last month or so.

I just never got the abuse/piss taking. We all want him to do well. Fair criticism/frustration is one thing, but some of the shit was unnecessary.

I think a lot of the criticism comes down to the fact he was a last minute ill-thought out purchase that at the time was our record signing, on huge wages. No one could understand it, and least of all, understand it because the Newcastle fans despised him in their team as well.

We didn't get a shiny well-publicised attacking signing we all craved. We got a player coming from a relegated team that their fans didn't even want.

Full credit to him for turning things around. If he continues to do this well, whatever that is, the fans will back him. Similar to Rose a few seasons ago.

He’s always had support (although some laughing at him) in the stadium which is where it counts. When we are in there nobody wants him to have a bad game.

No he fucking hasn’t, he’s been ridiculed and derided constantly. The woman behind me literally shouts ‘no no no’ when she spots him getting ready to come on and abuses his every touch.
Yeah, that's not true, is it?

Maybe not that part of his post but everything else @Ben1 saya is completely true:

Yeah, ill admit I pushed it out a bit on that part. However, there were a LOT of people quick to blame (scapegoat) him for a result, when to single out criticism of him was often harsh.

And no, I aint revising history. He was never great, he never lived up to his valuation, but football is a sport where people cant wait to sort people into 'shit or the messiah', 'sacked or full backing', 'sell or new contract'....most players, managers and situations sit somewhere on the scale in between. I don't think he was ever shit (you don't play for spurs being 'shit' these days), maybe good enough, which wasn't his fault entirely.

The great thing with history is, like the present, you only see it from your point of view. Its flummoxes people when it turns out their opinion isn't the only one.

So the only players in squad of 25 who are not full internationals are Vorm, KWP, N'Koudou and Llorente

Always thought he was a dynamic CM, could never understand playing him in an attacking wide position.

Anytime I watched him for Newcastle he was fucking great. When we played Newcastle I would always look to see if he was on the team sheet.

He was leaving Newcastle, regardless, that's why most fans turned on him. Any of them making out he was shit was a lot to do with sour grapes.

I watched him plenty and wanted us to sign him, even if the few was sizeable.

I'll add my thoughts....
He's been ok of late. The problem is he's been so poor previously (IMO) that when he does complete a basic pass, or runs with the ball without it seeming like a Toblerone, it's very easy to get a bit carried away.
Honestly I absolutely root for him every game and he has improved the last few games, and you're only as good as your last game or current form, so in that sense it's an improvement.
But in general, since I've seen him in a spurs shirt he's made simple things appear incredibly difficult.
Still, he's our player and he does appear to try.

I too wanted to sign him, pointed him out to my son, then he came to a bigger pond, lost his confidence and got mocked mercilessly by our fans. I just can't believe he's actually managed to get past his fears and is playing the way he used to at Newcastle. Great fun to watch and some of his play is genuinely good this year. Best player several times recently. Fair play to the big lad.

He's been better than ok. He's been good. I've seen this line a few times... Oh its only because he's been so poor, we're all blinded by it.

It's not the case, he's been good for the last few weeks and is a big reason as to why we havnt dropped points.

Look, he was poor for most of the time up until recently. But call a spade a spade, he's been good now and deserves a bit of praise and encouragement.
