He maybe playing well at the moment but he has previously been rubbish. Hardly looked like a professional footballer and a complete mystery as to how he has played so often for France. Perhaps with him it is a confidence thing and we are now seeing his real qualities ? Not sure through if it is confidence why he has been so poor until now since joining from the barcodes. Why has he lacked self confidence for so long ?

Maybe, just maybe, players perform better when they start matches regularly, in the same position and with the same role.

No, that’s madness, he’s shit and the recent form is the result of voodoo.

His recent performances are reminiscent of a peak Essien. Driven, aggressive, demanding.

Maybe because he's had thousands of his own team's fans taking the piss out of him and groaning in the stadium whenever he plays for the last two years....?

He deserved to have the piss taken out of him for earning so much and playing so poorly until now. He couldn't control a ball and got a nosebleed every time he got anywhere near the opposition penalty area. Dreadful waste of money until now and we were a laughing stock for buying him.

If you’re at the matches, you, along with many others, are a dreadful waste of a seat that could go to good supporter. Seriously, what the fuck is this? Other than after the final whistle of a genuinely horrendous collective performance, when is it ever acceptable to get on players’ backs? The answer is never. If you disagree you shouldn’t be allowed within a mile of the ground on matchdays.

Exactly. Supporters: the clue is in the name

He recently has clearly been a lot better than he has for the rest of his spurs career and this i can only assume that he is a huge confidence player. But im not getting carried away with it for 2 reasons,

1. he has appeared in around 100 spurs games and has 1 league cup goal to show for it. thats a crap stat for any midfielder who can drive forward like he can.

2. when everyone is fit he isnt going to start and will spend a fair bit of time on the bench or possibly not in the matchday squad, so how will this effect him. hopefully not negatively but im not convinced.

Im glad he has finally started to show a bit of form for us and long may it continue. As playing like he is, hes a good squad option to have to come in when playing games thick and fast.

I've been his biggest critic in the past, so for me to give him any praise is very much eating humble pie and something i never thought i would see with him in a spurs shirt. Fair play to the blokes attitude.

I'm not sure you can really call this "humble pie" since you're essentially caveating your post with the chance to say "I told you so" if his form dips again.

Seems like some people still can't admit that he's been one of our best players recently, they still have a hard time getting it in their head which doesn't justify their initial thoughts of him and are just waiting for him to have a bad game just so the 'told you so' brigade can reappear again.

The confirmation bias is amazing :D

I don't think you have any idea of what being a supporter is.

ive said fair play to his attitude and long may his form continue and that right now he is a good squad option to have? not sure where the option for me to say i told you so is in there? but each to thier own :)

TBH I like the fact that he has never tried to hide. He may well know that being at Spurs is the pinnacle of his career. Every time he comes onto the pitch he gives his all, very much like Lamela, we have a couple that do not.
Good to see a player put in a shift rather than coast along, well done Sissoko.

Giving a few 7 out of 10 performances less regularly than Jenas infamously did doesn't really make him any less of a poor signing tbh. I know he didn't set the price or specifically ask for the wage, but we've not gotten value for money from his transfer.

Hopefully his turn of form generates some interest in him as I don't think he's a good enough player, even for the squad.

Six months ago I'd have probably agreed with this, but no way could I do so now. He's probably deserving of starting right now, let alone being a mere squad player.

Think is, with Dembele declining and Wanyama seemingly unable to rediscover fitness or form, that’s at least two CMs in need of replacing. Replacing them and Sissoko is a lot of upheaval for one summer, so if Sissoko can maintain thus standard then the transition to post Dembele Wanyama life will be a lot easier, but time for new signings (or youths like Skipp) to bed in and allow winks and Dier to rotate out to maintain fitness. I think after this season Sissoko is needed for at least one more season as Dembele is almost definitely off and it’s lookimg bleak for big Vic.
