That's just Bentelab all over. Compare that with class shown by players like Mason and Townsend. He's a bad character, who over estimates his own abilities. It's all about him, him, him. He was got rid of, no matter how he spins it. Won't be long before he saying he forced the move so he could go to a bigger club or something.

I really don't see what he's said there that's outrageous.

Its basic, he clearly has an ego, anyone that tries to defend that is blinded by him being a 'youth product' and just wishing he would progress with us. He never will learn, Poch has made it clear that the team is important, not an individual, are we suffering without him - no, are we a better team without him - yes.

Some players have people around them that influence them in a negative way and it's unfortunate, if he was as good as he believed, he would have proved to Poch in training and in games that he can't be dropped. We have the best training facilites in the country, one of the best stadiums on the way, one of the best managers in the world for promoting youth and in the best league in the world. If Bentaleb couldn't see any of this, then he is an idiot and to me he didn't want to roll his sleeves up because the likes of Dembele, Dier, Wanyama, Winks, Onomah was too much competition for him.

All the best for him, but it will never be with our club and i'm not sad one little bit because he just keeps proving Poch right each time he opens his mouth.

He's entitled to have some self belief, he's proved he can perform on the highest stage, consistently. What do you want a team of mice ?

The blinded by him being a "youth product" is such cliched bollocks. I couldn't wait for Townsend to get moved on, didn't rate him, and he was "Mr youth product" spurs through and through.

People defend Bentaleb because they believe he was a very talented footballer who performed consistently in a transitional team, next to another novice who was being played in a wrong role in a system (4231) that wasn't best for either of them behind a bunch of chocolate teapots like Townsend and Chadli, yet still helped us finish 5th.

The bollocks spoken about his attitude by people who have absolutely no idea at all about his "attitude" is ridiculous. This is a kid who dragged himself out of his home country, went round trialing at various clubs in England and fought his way into a top team and consistently proved himself as one of it's better performers. The general consensus when his contract negotiations were going on were "FFS Levy pay the boy". Why would that be ?

This isn't an Adebayor, lazy egotistical ****, we are talking about, or a Balotelli turning up in a custom painted camouflaged Ferrari talking about himself in the third person, walking around like he's the crowned prince of a country with a small GDP, but a kid who's renowned for training harder than most, being one of the last off the training ground - even when he wasn't playing in the first team last year - and one who hates losing - a trait I happen to like, who also has bags of ability and huge potential considering what he'd achieved aged 20.

We don't have to paint Bentaleb as the antichrist just because him and Pochettino didn't see eye to eye. This could just be a case of a situation that was untenable, a player frustrated, understandably considering what he'd proved aged 20 then to find he couldn't even get on the bench ahead of people like Carroll, and a manager who takes a very stringent attitude to any form of discontent.

Maybe neither are overly to blame, I like players who have ambition, desire and belief but I also want a manager who values the collective spirit, sometimes they might not be compatible. Or sometimes you will just get personalty clashes.

But there is no way Bentaleb's ego exceeds his talent, what he achieved aged 20 in this league for this team should not be under estimated, I've watched many, many more experienced CM's fail to bring what he did that season in my 50 years.

We keep tossing world class players overboard. Notable examples include:

- Nabil Bentaleb
- Pau Lopez

Problems behind the scenes.

How I wish we had tried him further up-field. His could have been the locksmith we've been looking for; and on top of that, we can do with his shooting.

In addition to his goals, are you gonna notify us every time he does a boo boo or is part of a central midfield that gets totally over run?

When he plays in a team that competes for league titles and Champions League places, then you can perhaps say we made a mistake letting him go. But at the moment he's just doing Okish in a bottom of the table team full of average players.

He's already played in a team that competed for a CL place, got to a cup final (where he was probably the best player on the pitch) aged 19/20. At the moment he's averaging more key passes per game than Xabi Alonso, Thiago Alcantara and Joshua Kimmich are for Bayern, and has also scored more goals and made more assists, not bad for a kid playing his first season in a new country as a CM2 for a shit team, going through a transition with other new players also having their first seasons in Germany ?

You're just using selective stats to try and prove a point. Sorry, but just like Dean Marney (one of the most prolific CMs in Spurs' history) Jake Livermore and Ryan Mason, he's downgraded and found his right level. And just as with those players we should wish him well and be thankful for the wonga he'll bring us. I don't expect any of those to ever play for a top 4 Premier League club and I don't expect Bentaleb to either, or the equivalent in Germany, which would be a top 2 club.

Eh? What? I've missed something - isn't he our keeper on loan from Espanyol?

Don’t speak German? That’s totally fine. Google translate, and friends who understand German, also point out that the article says a new 4-year-contract between Bentaleb and Schalke has already been agreed upon.

Good for Nabil. We pocket 17 mill and he gets to develop in Germany. Obviously a good player, I would be more heartbroken if we didn't already have Alli, Onomah, Winks, Amos as young talented CM options who need gametime. Hopefully we can invest that money into Isco or a very talented AM.

Bentaleb's case is odd. Joined as a winger, played deep, creative midfield role, then Sherwood introduced him as a centre midfielder. Those mistakes he has made there are the same that Pogba has made at Juve and United. I think he would have thrived in an advanced role but his combative nature angled him towards a central role. Whether he could be accommodated is another matter, so fair play for securing a move with a good club.
