He looks a very promising prospect to me. To be playing his part in what must be the most difficult position to play in in the Premier League takes some doing at 18. And it is clear Poch has a lot of confidence in him. Lots to learn and plenty of improvement to come. How much no one can say for sure but I believe he will do at least as well as Winks all be it in a slightly different role.

He'll get better with the more minutes he gets in the league, this happened with Winks and so I'm confident itll happen with skipp. Give him atleast 2 years and he can dominate a madrid midfield like winks has done, it's about minutes and confidence and he'll get both.

Let’s not go overboard please. I want to see our kids do well. I really want Skipp to do well. Some of the comments on here is so OTT it is unbelievable. I have watched him at close quarters for a few years. He is not in Scotty Parker’s league. Some of us need to look back on a 18 year old Scott Parker. He was loaded with technical ability.

I see Skipp as very industrious with a little ability. It will be an interesting couple of years with him. He is not a head turner as some youngsters plying their trade elsewhere. He is nowhere near the level of Declan Rice for example. And they play basically the same position.

I want to see him kick on, but please keep all in perspective. Please

I'm happy with Skipp, I think he has done brilliantly to come in and do a job for us in a difficult period what with Dembele going, Dier and Wanyama being out.

Hope he keeps picking up the minutes and continues to progress.

Totally my view - the Rice comparison is the right one. Rice is 18 months older, admittedly, but is showing himself to be a classy premiership player already.

Skipp has potential but has a way to go before he can be relied upon at premier league level.

I'm glad he's getting exposure and that he's acquitting himself well, but that statement is always contextualized with 'for an 18 year old, newly coming into the side'. You don't need to say that about Rice or Guendouzi

My take of his performance v Leicester was that Poch gave him a specific job to do and he tried to carry that out, the best he could

Not sure he’s ever played in that position and most definitely not at that level

Seemed uncomfortable and did play it very very simple all afternoon but that doesn’t mean he didn’t do very very well all things being considered

Another fantastic prospect on the conveyer belt. Can’t wait to watch his journey

Good luck to him

Let’s hope he’s as ordinary as that Harry Kane bloke was a few years ago. No one was less of a head turner than H

As we know you can get to the very very top (without doing anything other than running around brilliantly and getting stuck in and offloading the ball quickly)

I was going to mention H. But my friend, he was banging then in at all levels. And on another forum at the time I was getting slagged off that he not would turn out the way he has.

Yes very true. Corrected

The good thing is the engine room type players don’t need goals etc but as with goal scorers, every team needs one

Looks like he's got something about him but I have to say I'm a little surprised by how many "rave reviews" he's getting from people. I think we need to calm down and just let him do his thing. I haven't seen anything from him so far to really make me sit up and take notice, he's just looked like a solid young player but who still has a long way to go at this level. Admittedly we haven't seen nearly enough of him to make any kind of definitive assessment just yet, but I do think some people are getting remarkably carried away based on the little we have seen so far.

I agree, I've said this before: A lot of players like Parker, Mason, Hendo. All technical players as youths but when it comes to adult football it's difficult to keep playing the same way at a higher intensity so they turn into simpler players. If he develops athletically and mentally, he wouldn't need to be hitting raking passes or dribbling amongst players, but he would be a hard working asset in CM.

Important to remember that a year ago Declan Rice was nowhere near the level he is now, people are far too quick to judge young players. Skipp will improve massively.

I think he has lots of technical ability too, just doesn’t maybe have the physical attributes to impose himself fully yet.

He'll be an international level player, no doubt in my mind.

Declan this time last year was heads and shoulders above, and stood out from his first game.

Parker was another that was ruined by mourinho. Was flying in that advanced CM almost 10 at Charlton. Was never the same player after he went Chelsea. However he carved out a niche that he was extremely good at. Him and modders were outstanding.

Skipp in the youth video does have that similar endeavour. He showed it against barca pre season. His transition was always going to be tricky this early but he has shown glimmers of that energy and drive and likes to play forward. I'm happy thus far with him.

Personally I always thought kane had something.. It was that uefa game against heart of M that caught my eye where he played almost wide left forward of a front 3.

I remember Rice making a mistake in a game away at Newcastle and getting subbed at half time.

Sky:

“After young Declan Rice gave the ball away 35 yards from his goal, Atsu was released through on Joe Hart, before squaring for Joselu to bundle home in front of the Gallowgate End.”

I remember him fucking up against Arsenal away failing to head a ball away that led to a goal.

Here is the quote from the Sky report of that game:

West Ham goalkeeper Hart made superb saves to deny Xhaka and Danny Welbeck, but was cruelly beaten by Ramsey eight minutes from time when Declan Rice inexplicably ducked out of the way of the Welshman's cross and the ball drifted into the net.

We will see. His work ethic, footballing brain and tenacity are his standout traits.

That is the reason I believe he will go so far. I hope he will use someone like Frank Lampard as his role model. Frank took absolute pelters in his first few years. Apparently Frank had no mobility, no technical ability, was fat, couldn’t shoot...

He turned out ok. At 18 you have SO MUCH to improve on. I think Skipp will go very, very far in the game.
