Credit where it's due, Paulinho played well. Newcastle were damn poor though.

I see none of the haters have bumped the regular Paulinho thread today, they're usually so quick to do so.

Why would anyone bump his thread anyway? He had an average game. If an average game required a comment then all 11 player threads would be bumped. Bentaleb had a better game and no-one has bumped his. The only 2 circumstances that get a player thread bumped is either an exceptional performance or a terrible performance. Looking at the 2 threads going atm one is Kane who has scored 30 goals the other is Lamela, I haven't checked but I assume it's due to his shocking first half.

The fact that Paulinho thread has been up there this week is not a good thing. the fact that it is not up there today is testament to him not playing badly. Do you think his performance is worthy of Kane praise or Rose praise for the last few weeks?

I disagree because I've seen his other thread get bumped midway through the first half multiple times when he's not done a whole lot wrong, even when he was playing for Brazil. His thread actually gets bumped pretty much every time he plays for us because a section of our fans enjoy ripping on our players with glee, even when their performances are average rather than poor.

He wasn't average yesterday though, he played well and won MOTM. I was just wondering if his harshest critics would give him any credit and a few of them have.

At the very least I think he's earned his place in the starting lineup vs Southampton.

5 games left, its really a gamble to keep them if they play well for the next 5 games, come the beginning of the season if they start being shit again then their fee goes down even more.
Indeed

I suppose if they played well they may at least attract more offers or attract more money from potential buyers

I'd be inclined to sell but I don;t think realistically we will be able to sell and replace them all (all of the flop recent signings not just Paulinho and Lamela) so the more who can show some worth and potentially become productive members of the squad the better

At the very least their playing well will give us a better chance of selling them for the type of fees Levy will demand

I think Lamela especially is unlikely to be sold because of the huge fee paid and probability of making a huge loss on selling him on

He has stepped up hes game lately
it is a good thing that so many wants him in the team now instead of Mason.

Hope he still is around here next season

I believe he did well when coming on against ManC. However, I have a feeling he's not cut out for the EPL and would be better off in La Liga or Seri A; where I think he'll show himself a a top quality CMF again.

7 million pound loss, that's gotta sting for.levy. but why go to China, I think he has some good qualities that would suit a team in Portugal or Italy

He's going to be one of those players that retires early because of career failings.

What a waste going out there.

Going to China at 26 is absurd, he clearly has zero faith in his own ability. Then again, there can't be a single club in Europe willing to pay anywhere close to 10m for him at this point.

Not really a 7m loss. Works out about 200k book loss based on 17m over 5 year deal. 3 years left is 10.2m book value. I think levy's done well.

The money and competition in China must be getting better...I can't see Paulinho there indefinitely he'll move again back to Brasil within a few seasons.

I reckon he'll probably only be there for ones season before going back home.
