Gotta love Sky Sports pundits Redknapp and Pardew desperate to stick the boot in today calling him out, fucking hell you"d think that he's a player with years of experience the way those two went on, it really was quite the witch hunt, Pardew even bought up the fact that he had a falling out with Blanc and him looking arrogant then when Sheringham piped up and said it's his first start basically saying give him a break, the twat Pardew then went and changed his mind saying actually he might be nervous, wtf?

Sky are just typically sensationalist, xenophobic, jobs for the LADS bollocks who poor scorn on foreign players when they come to this league...proper bunch of little Englanders who love to stick the boot when it's convienant but when they're proved wrong they go quiet.

Paedew even said that if he was Poch he'd be ripping into him.. erm pretty sure that's why you've been sacked from 3 Premier League jobs mate for being absolute shit in all of them.
Pardew criticising anyone for being arrogant is the height of hypocrisy. That man is a complete tool.

He got sent off, so what. Half the media were shedding a tear for poor old Mane recently when he almost kicked Ederson's face off.

Poch got Wanyama to stop going to ground at every opportunity, and he'll probably iron out that flaw with Aurier as well.

He's several of orders of magnitude better on the ball than Walker is. Was erratic today from the start though. No doubt it will be sorted out.

I can't agree on his first showings - he is aggressive and ok getting forward so far but he is not as quick as Walker in the recovery though I can't think of anyone who is. So far he has a tendency to get lost up the pitch and yesterday he was poor and could very easily have cost us two points

It's very early days for him but he is going to have to curb some of his natrual aggression in England though I have a feeling he might be fun to watch given time

He is quick when he missed out the first tackle on Arnautovic he was outrageously quick at getting back up for the second tackle which probably saved the goal rather than cost us a goal. Can't fault the lad's commitment. Will take that every day over a little hotheadedness.

Very similar type player to Walker, Aurier looks very very good as well and can only get better as he becomes more settled and comfortable with his new team and surroundings

Both enjoy giving forwards a head start because it's obviously completely unfair otherwise

Obviously needs to stand up more otherwise it's really going to cost us. No good to anyone (however good you are) getting sent off regularly

It's natural to make comparisons with the player he was bought to replace, so I'll play the game, too. Based on what I've seen so far:
  • Aurier is much better on the ball than Walker
  • Walker is less aggressive than Aurier
  • Walker may be a bit faster than Aurier
  • Aurier is a better crosser than Walker
  • Aurier spots a pass a bit better than Walker
  • Walker makes better defensive decisions than Aurier
  • Aurier is very two-footed, while Walker is anything but
Granted, this is based on a limited sampling size of Aurier's play, but the signs are already there. If Poch can iron out the issues in terms of Aurier's decision-making, then he's going to be one hell of a player in another year or two.

Remember when Rose was first used as a left-back? We were very concerned that he was too rash and would fly into every tackle. Give Poch a couple of months to work with him and he'll be a monster.

Great article sums up my feelings precisely. I have heard a lot of criticism on this board and else where since Saturday. I understand he was reckless on the second yellow but what the first one was about is a complete mystery to me. This boy is going to be a Worldie he is a natural defender and we will do well to hold on to him when he displays the full range of his talents.

The full back whisperer will improve his game massively, it might just take a few months and regular game time to get him there and get him used to the league. Its a big step up from France on a weekly basis.

Let's be honest, I think we all know he was going to be worth a couple of red cards a season.

Hopefully Poch can sort out his apparent recklessness like he did with Wanyama and we'll see the best of him on a consistent basis. Either way, I'd rather have a potentially world class right-back who plays the Spurs/Poch game and have him missing a few games each season than have a safe bet (although to be fair I do rate Trippier), and get 6/7 out of 10 performances each week.

Look at what Poch has done for Rose, Walker, Davies and Trippier.

Now look at Aurier 20 days in. Silly decision on the second yellow, but you can see his ability

By end of the season he'll be the best full back in the league.

Exactly - Poch has already noted that his pre-season wasn't ideal as well (presumably not up to the same fitness as he expects) so there's a way to go in terms of sharpness and settling into the league. One mistake doesn't make a disaster as most fans are noting.

Just the media types (many with an axe to grind) who are using his past against him on this occasion. He'll prove them wrong in my view - it's early days but i think he'll thrive in our team environment and not being left amongst the egos at PSG.

Wow it looks like people have a lot to say about Aurier!

All I know is that against a class left sided player and a top quality team he was very good against Dortmund. He will learn, adapt, improve and yes will make some mistakes but you can't play attacking football without making mistakes. Poch knows this and that is why we attack and defend as a team wit players drilled into how they cover for each other. I am not the slightest bit concerned about the West Ham game and on the contrary very pleased that he has had his first encounter with this type of English game

I've just started teaching English to a previous professional acquaintance of Aurier's. He told me that once he's had a few games under his belt he will be a seriously good player and that he's a very focused and intense individual who won't give anything less than 100%. I guess we can already see that though.

I didn't want to ask him too many questions as I have to remain professional but in future classes I will try to look for any opportunities in which I can ask more questions :)

Would rotate him/Trippier like this coming up assuming no injuries, suspensions, and fitness:

APOEL - Aurier
Huddersfield - Trippier (Aurier suspension)
After international break:
Bournemouth - Trippier
Madrid - Aurier
Liverpool - Aurier
West Ham (Carabao Cup) - Trippier
United - Aurier

If he was bought by any other of the top 6, warts and all, we would be moaning why didn't we get him to replace Walker. We have him, lets appreciate and support him. I for one feel a very good vibes about him, and was dying for him to sign for us. The red card has not altered my views of him one iota
