It is very obvious that he is better than Walker in many aspects in the role of a right back. He is also capable of playing left back.
People seems to forget that Walker had cost us games with his brain fart. The stupid back pass to no one against liverpool was one I could not forget.

Also we mustn't forget he probably had a very disrupted pre-season and has just moved to a new country.

He was playing really well against the spammers as well, red cards happen it's part of the game.

Look how many times Roy Keane got stupidly sent off for Manchester United and he was one of their most important players in his prime!

It's good to have a little nasty in the team lol as would prefer that to the nicey nice team we had at one stage that Bolton or Stoke (before we became their bogey team) would regularly bully.

Slightly concerned about Aurier...

Had a decent game going forward... But I was surprise at his lack of pace. He could be still getting up to match fitness. But he was 2nd best too many times today.

Let's give the guy at least 5-10 starts folks, how many full games has he played in the last 6 months?

Well he stayed on his feet today so that's a step in the right direction. Poch will get him sorted.

Yeah, I thought he was a little poor tonight. Doesn't mean he's shit or anything. But it's way to early to be saying he's better than Walker, or indeed Trippier.

Concerned?

Grab your coat on the way out, he's been here for 5 minutes ffs.

I think the problem is transferwindowitus.

Whereby an exotic foreign player who most people have only seen on YouTube is hailed as the second coming and the player who can transform us etc.

Then when he doesn't start faultlessly he's already fallen below expectations.

Ive posted earlier in thread I think that he needs to be given time to settle in.

He's moved to a castle mpleteot different country so maybe hasn't even got a permanent home sorted yet and also he missed all of our pre-season so didn't have that chance to hone his fitness and integrate with both his new teammates and Poch's methods.

He'll still be an asset but might bloom even more given a proper pre-season with us next summer.

I agree. Living in a castle is probably quite disorientating ;).

That could be the issue. A castle in a different country. :ROFLMAO:

Like I said in my post... "Slight concern" not a full on crazy yet.

He looks like he is isn't match fit, he was walking a bit in that game. He needs the Poch fitness regime to do its magic and he will be fine.

I think it's pretty obvious he needs games and time as he hasn't looked wholly convincing yet. His positioning and crossing so far haven't been the best but he needs time to get used to so many facets of the game we play.

It's not really possible or fair to give an assessment of him until at least 4 to 6 months working with Poch and the coaches. It took the other 4 about this time to improve under the coaching staff and they'd played in England so I don't see why it won't be around the same timeframe for Aurier.

You can easily see the massive potential as a world class right back with Aurier.

As soon as he gets up to full "Poch" fitness, we will have a complete gem.

My only slight worry is he is a bit gung-ho, which can be a positive and negative. By that i mean he has no fear of a physical challenge, but that could also cost him (and possibly us) at times.

It's why it's always despite understandable reasons always a shame we do our business so late in the window. This guy with a month under Poch would have been looking great. Not cost us any points yet of course but happened many times where we don't see the best of a player until one year later

I think he’s seriously lacking fitness. There was a moment in the first half, after only 15 minutes or so, where he looked completely knackered and didn’t have the legs to stay with his runner.

He’ll get better as his fitness improves and he gets used to the players around him.

It seems to take some time for fullbacks to find their stride under Poch (Davies and Trippier struggled in their first months with us, Walker looked like a competiotion winner when he came back from injury, and Rose was pretty far from the standards of last season). But we all know what happens with full backs under Pochettino after a while.

And Aurier probably has the most potential of all those he's worked with in terms of physical, technical and tactical attributes. Proper excited to see him develop.
