I think he’ll get better and was a necessary signing to ease the pressure at right back having just sold a high profile player in Walker and potentially putting a lot of pressure on Walker-Peters to cover if we hadn’t signed anyone.

I agree and I also think people are being very quick to toss him into the fire. He had no preseason and played very mixed minutes last season due to his off the field issues. He looks desperate to show his quality more than anything and those sort of things will even out over time.

He reminded me of Walker a lot yesterday. Those 2 excellent chances he set up! Shame they were for Palance though.:ROFLMAO:

The brain farts are troubling in the extreme and I'd like to see him be more proactive in the final third (he seems to have the tools to do more than he has so far) but I like how he gets stuck in. He won the ball a lot yesterday, potentially more than anyone, and that actually started our move for the goal if memory serves.

Poch will sand down the rough edges like he did with Walker and Rose.

People were questioning both Walker and Trippier until Poch got a hold of them. Fans need to realise by now that our manager is a expert at coaching full backs. Have a bit of patience.

And Davies, and Rose, and Shaw, and Clyne.

The guy is a genius when it comes to full-backs. He could have probably made Philip Ifil half decent.

To my point that he wins the ball a lot I checked on Whoscored and Aurier has 1.8 interceptions per game to 0.4 for Davies and Tripps. And 3.4 tackles to 1.5 (Tripps) and 1.1 (Davies).

So if he can work out the big mistakes I think there's a lot there to work with.

New league, new country, new team mates, no pre-season, disrupted last season with PSG.
But let's write him off eh.

Give him time; he's going to make mistakes, but he's also showing promise too.
As a few people have posted, Poch is an improver of players (notably full backs) so let him work with him.

I'm not worried about Aurier. He's shown enough that say says to me with some Poch love, he'll be beast.

Writing him off at this stage is lunacy.

I think he'll be a good signing for us.
No getting away from it though, he was useless yesterday.
Some quality coaching time with Pochettino will sort him out.

He had a wobbly game yesterday but he was being praised by most away in Madrid and out of position against Liverpool.

    Let's not get carried away

I think Sunday was a bit of a blip. He's also showed some fantastic attributes. After his debut some on here were saying he was way better than Walker, and when Trippier was named to start last Weds against Madrid there were tantrums from some fans that Aurier should start instead. In Aurier, Trippier and KWP we have arguably the strongest set of RBs in the league, and in Poch we have the world's best full back 'whisperer'.

People are being very generous on here because the mistakes didn't cost us in the end. Being candid, his mistakes were truly atrocious yesterday. Must do better.

Clearly, he has a slip of concentration in him which fortunately hasn't cost us yet but I'm sure this will be ironed out and apart from these blips he's looked very solid. I think where he's actually underwhelmed is as an attacking threat. For me he's pretty conservative; he always keeps the ball but he doesn't try to drive at his man; he's more a Ben Davies, then a Danny Rose.

This is a bit embarrassing though:

    http://www.football-espana.net/68230/barca-deny-aurier-talks

Barcelona have denied being in ‘advanced negotiations’ with Serge Aurier before the defender left Paris Saint-Germain for Tottenham Hotspur.
Aurier claimed when speaking to France’s Canal+ that his camp was in contact with La Blaugrana over the summer, and suggested his negative perception was why Barca decided against completing the transfer.

“We’ll see what happens with my future. I think my reputation has scared four or five European clubs. I was negotiating with Barca, very advanced negotiations, and the Barca people weren’t sure if I went there that things would be different,” Sport quotes Aurier as saying.

Barca, however, took the step of issuing a denial to Aurier’s comments, insisting that any contact between the club and his representatives was initiated by the player’s side.

“We never sat down with the player or his representative. They wanted to sit down with us, but nothing was ever done,” a spokesman said

Guy needs to stop talking about PSG or Barca and concentrate on trying to make himself first choice at Spurs. Players talking to the media about other clubs is a very bad sign.
